13:19 “Writing is how human beings express complicated ideas in an efficient way”. Hello Matt, my name is Bruno and this is the first time I hear this particular piece from Seth, as he riffs on writer’s block. Tk you very much for this interview :)
I love how the father realizes his dream of being a basketball player died a long time ago and tries to explain to his son that he won't succeed in it because he didn't, when he is really just upset that he didn't succeed at it 💔
27:52 Multitasking for ADHD is like 'spoonful of sugar helps the medicine go down' 😂 But how you choose your multi-tasks is also critical. For example, if you want to multitask task A and task B to achieve better performance. Task A and task B need to occupy most parts of the brain, and have the least overlaps. The former is to prevents part of the brain gets too bored and start to “bother” other parts. For example, when my goal is to finish cleaning the room. If I just do the cleaning, my mind is bored, it will quickly be distracted by, perhaps a childhood toy I suddenly found (because when you’re bored, even the smallest things seem interesting). And then I forget about cleaning. The latter is because some tasks impede each other, you simply cannot do them simultaneously. 1. They use the same functioning parts of the brain. E.g. Human mind can’t follow two different conversations at the same time. 2. Some pathways shutdown others. E.g. Human can’t swallow while breathing. Here are some of my helpful “multi-tasking” combinations: 1. Doing household chores while listening to audiobooks: You probably don’t need thinking or hearing to finish most of the chores. Since your mind is processing information, you won’t be distracted by random things you see. 2. Making origamis when watching a university lecture video (if you’re also an East Asian kid like me, you might as well be able to make paper cranes or “lucky stars” eyes closed😂). 3. When I exercise, I place my iPad on the treadmill and play music with lyrics on. So that I can learn the songs (something I love), while distract my mind not to think about the strenuous, tiresome exercise. If my comment interests you, feel free to direct message me and chat 😂
My friends and family are often amazed by how I easily learn things that are difficult for most people. There’s no one I know, who is more keen on using technology to study than I do. I have subscribed to Quizlet, text-to-audio apps, RU-vid (so that I can play games while listening to RU-vid while on transportations) and listened to lots of audiobooks. I couldn’t imagine how I can ever study, without these technology today. I was screaming YES YES YES when I heard this part: 25:35 “As the technology started coming along and becoming part of my life, the better I did. So l embraced technology even though I'm 58 years old. Technology to me has been a godsend. And I think that the young ADHDers today are so lucky to be living in a technologically enriched world where they can put their strength in multi-tasking skills that their multitasking ability to great, great use.”
Hey Matt, I hope you are fine. Your RU-vid video content is amazing, you just need to improve your RU-vid thumbnails. I'm an expert thumbnail designer with 4 years of experience. If you need my assistance then let me know. I would like to improve your thumbnail designs.
