Thank you for watching! 🥰 I would definitely not over manipulate. I would get them retwisted every 6 weeks. Try to keep your hands out of your hair as much as possible. Would you say it’s okay to go three months without a retwist after getting starter locs?
@MellyInspo
@MellyInspo 29 дней назад
@@Kermila_3 it depends on what your goal is for your locs. Are you doing semi-free form locs? If not then I would highly recommend doing your retwists every 4-6 weeks until they mature into locs. After that you can do every 2 to 3 months. They’re still forming so you want to make sure they’re adequately maintained.

I’m 1 year and 5 months loc’d and I already knew I was gonna be coloring my locs from the beginning because I’m older and have lots of gray hair, and was coloring before them. So good thing is when I got them started my hair was colored and I know how to take care of colored hair. I do put in the work and it’s a lot, but it’s what i want. I felt that way when I wore my fro as a loose natural. I’ve been locked for 17 months now. I prefer big hair so still feel awkward, but I threw away all of my wigs during the first month. Outside of braids is there any notable difference in the time it takes the different methods to mature? I'm interested in starting with comb coils at the moment but since I'm already locked now I think I might be a little impatient. I don't mind waiting but if it's vastly slower compared to other methods I might reconsider Also, are there any starter methods that particularly work well with less sectioning? I kinda dig the "scalpless" loc look
@MellyInspo
@MellyInspo Месяц назад
@@nyshyn307 so it will definitely depend on your hair texture. Coils do take a while to mature they may take a year or longer to mature because they tend to be high maintenance in the beginning. 2 strand twist only take 6 months to a year to loc depending on hair texture. Yes that is called pick and go! You can definitely loc your hair with less sectioning won’t necessarily be Freeform because you’ll still be retwisting and maintaining them . But the pick and go look is very natural. I actually have a friend who did this and she loves it!
