There is an easier way 1. Take off the speaker caps with plain screwdriver. 2. Drill the old support holes until it drops off 3. Put new one back , support will fit the hole with no issue There is very old video in RU-vid one dude shows the same
In hindsight now that you mention these steps in the succinct manner you did, I can see where that would have been much easier and possible. Would have been nice to know this when I replaced them 🤣. Oh well, live and learn, right?!? None the less, thanks for pro tip! 👊🏼
Yes....it would have been very nice if they simply snapped out and snapped in but that isn't the way Toyota does things. With that said, they make incredibly reliable vehicles and these panels lasted 14 years. If this is part of their process that makes their vehicles to reliable...I suppose it's best to play their game. 🤷♂ Thank you for watching the video! 👊
@@REMSAMinBNA I bought an 05 Camry a few months back. Needed a bit of work, but you're right...they are so reliable! It starts every time, no problem. I just got my speaker cover replacements and mine also disintegrated.

@Simox, Thank you for the comment and asking... We took this tour in May 2021 - during the pandemic. At that time, we paid $550 for the two of us (my wife and I). Mine are probably so deteriorated that I don't even have to take out the rear panel. I took a piece out one day, and it just disintegrated into dust. Also, are these new ones made of metal, or are they still plastic?
@The Retro Collector - Yes! The plastic covers get brittle after years of baking in the sun. As you can see in the video, mine weren't far from disintegration either. The easier you can make the removal and installation the better. Unfortunately, the new ones are also made of plastic. I too would have preferred metal but I also figured if the old ones lasted 14 years - I can live with the new ones lasting 14 years. @@REMSAMinBNA How are these new ones holding up so far? It's been a year, and I possibly will be owning my Camry for 10 more years, since it was a hand-me-down from one of my peers. It's my first car, only has 233,000+ miles on it (which for this car, isn't even close to being broken in.)
@@MetalPopka I’m a little embarrassed to admit but I edited and posted this video in the summer of 2020 - 3 years after I replaced the speaker panels (thanks for the extra time #covid 😎). I filmed and replaced the speaker panels in the summer of 2017. Having said that, through August of last summer (2021) - 4 years later, they were still in great shape. Faded but didn’t show any signs of west and tear. I speak in past tense because I sold the vehicle this past September. The buyer didn’t even notice any wear and tear or ask if they’d been replaced. As for the mileage on your Camry - you’re right, you’re just getting the car broken in with 233k miles. You have many great years ahead of you with a Toyota. I sold this Camry 👆🏼 with over 350k miles. And it was still running strong. I only sold it because we replaced my wife’s car and I took her old Toyota Highlander.
