Hard to believe you're cutting/trimming stone with an angle grinder without using a respirator - that's just dumb. Also, why wouldn't you have stained the timber pieces BEFORE attaching them to the cabinet/counter?
I hope you put several coats of something like marine varnish on the exposed wood such as those support beams otherwise they’ll turn ugly gray quick and eventually rot. I would have used steel poles for the support columns and then surrounded it with pvc boards that look like wood. As a matter of fact I would use pvc that look like wood everywhere I could. Otherwise you’re dealing with a lot of yearly maintenance to keep it looking good. Wood and weather don’t mix very well.
Oh to have the money to build this and the house to go with it. Well, i can build my own outdoor kitchen with imagination , careful planning and a few tools. You bet!
It was a little flimsier than I expected. I had to add a 2x2 piece of wood to the bottom on the rear side in order to stabilize it better ru-vid.comUgkxXTh-lz-8W6GcB219vTLp27-MxbZYObBX . It is also starting to bow a little at the outer wall ( I've had it up for about 6 months), I've already had a shelf tumble down because of the bow and the fact that the little shelf brackets are quite short. I went out to home depot and got some longer ones so that the shelves don't tumble down again. Overall, it looks very nice for the price and it holds a lot ( I use it as a pantry). I am very satisfied with my purchase. I just strongly suggest reinforcing it before putting it up.
I realize this video is now over 3-years old, but I was wondering what issues,if any, you've had by building this out of wood? I know it is covered, which helps, but how has it held up to moisture and rain? Living in a northern clime, I'd love to have the look of wood, but "experts"say it isn't a viable option for our area. Any thoughts?
The nails were only used to hold the boards from sliding around from the glue. Not much clamping force from the nails so he added pressure with the clamps.
This is an older video but if you found your way to the comments I'd like to welcome you to the "Stream Of Tears" but remember you enter at your own risk and stay safe because it will be very easy to drown in the sea of lost dreams, filled by the cry babies, The why babies and the it's not fair babies below!
After watching the video advert i was still skeptical. But when i finally downloaded the plans ru-vid.comUgkxZF0EMnrujZvqHhGkxiz559uIABJWR9TG i was very impressed. The whole plan was just as you said in the video. Thank you very much. I now have a large and valuable collection for my woodworks. This is great!
Just to keep it in prospective, I built a stairs out of cinder block at the same time , the stairs has recently deteriorated on a surface of a block and had to replace the hole section since it made a weak spot . The grill structure is completely closed off from the elements no different that a house exterior wall construction. Wood is so much easier to work with as far as cutting and assemble , if done properly should last you at least 4 decades. Cheers
