This is such a bittersweet song for me. Thank you, Kevin. I played this and a few other of his songs at my husband's Celebration of Life in 2001. I saw Kevin a few months later in OKC at the Blue Door and shared that. He hugged me and said he appreciated that. Nice guy.
My mom got me to like reading by having me read Ramona the Pest. Beverly Cleary is an amazing author. She truly understands children. Good job Beverly Cleary👍👍
I discovered her when I was adult, I enjoyed it immensely. As a mom, it opened my eyes to my kid's thoughts and feeling and really reflected how kids interact with each other.
My mom passed away in September last year.We used to read Beverly's books together....so many wonderful memories.I am smiling and crying at the same time.
I named my Bernese Mountain dog Ramona because of her books...aka Ramona the Pest. I JUST found out that she and Ramona share the same birthday--except that Beverly turned 100 yesterday and Ramona turned 7! Would be cool to let her know! Happy Birthday and thanks for all the fantastic characters!!

Hopefully, in time, with lots of good food and a large cage, his feathers will look as full and healthy as Paco's. What a great buddy! Don McKee7 years ago Paco is a STAR. Thank you for giving us a peek. margaritavilloch 5 years ago in reply to mariechristine3 Paco is 20 years old, I got him when he hardly had feathers. They probabaly live 50-75 years less than the larger parrots. Paco doesn't screech like some other breeds, he is small and manageable. He doesn't talk , he is quiet, great pet. qtrhorse89 3 years ago in reply to HopesCharm @HopesCharm It reminds me of Ice Age but now that you've mentioned it, it's reminding me of Matilda margaritavilloch 5 years ago in reply to activistkate Thanks, Paco loves it . I live in the Florida Keys and there are many small uninhabited mangrove islands so I go and get some driftwood and old branches laying around. I put it together with ties and then screwed them together when I have the design around his cage that I wanted. Find some old branches of dried wood that wouldn't hurt Gus and try it. I used an outside umbrella stand for the base. Paco chews on the little twigs. Let me know how it goes. happy New Year! margaritavilloch 5 years ago in reply to MajorKirby9000 Your Parrot will like the leg and thigh bones better. Margarita? margaritavilloch 6 years ago in reply to thomaslucky67 Coming attraction.... Paco Taking a bath. margaritavilloch 6 years ago Thanks for your comment. Too many people buy birds and don't know what to do with them. It is unfortunate and really pushes my buttons when I see birds and other animals not taken care of. I am glad you rescued your WC Pionus. Paco is 17 year sold and the king of my home, he's got a lot of personality and loves to take baths. My friend Peri will post another video soon with Paco taking a nice bath. He wants one very day. I have him clipped so I use the fine spray on the hose nozzle. margaritavilloch 7 years ago in reply to bigtimeperi Hi an acrobat! Thought he could sign up at Cirque de Soleil but the hours didn't suit him. I dance a lot! Nika Stroble 7 years ago Paco, do you have any tricks?
One song that made me keep practicing the guita,r just so I could sing it. But I have to put my guitar up when I hear Kevin do it and just enjoy the show.
I really have loved this song for so many years. Super-kudos to Kevin and his songwriting ability. But.. the thing that really makes this tune what it is, emotionally, is Kieran's back-up music, IMO. It is just incredible and gives me goose-bumps. [In his own right, Kieran is one of the best musicians around -- in this genre, anyway. I liken him to a modern-day "Buddy Holly." Wish he would get more recognition.] [BTW, does anyone know what kind of instrument he is playing here? Looks like a "cross" between a banjo and guitar. Never seen -- or heard -- anything quite like it.]
I love Beverly Cleary! I think her life seems perfect I know it isn't because everyone has their challenges but if I could look back on my life and see what Mrs. Cleary has I'd be pleased.
When I commented that the interviewer had hair like Miranda in Sex and the City, Ms. Cleary was so shocked that I should have watched such a show. Funny you always want to think that your childhood heroes are a little more broad-minded than that. Oh well. I still enjoyed the books.
