6 1” and 250 lbs, something I have always struggled with, loved this video! Got a subscribe from me! Deciding on a Supra, z nismo, or a used cayman gts. Any experience with the gts?
Thanks for watching and subscribing! I might be biased but the Supra is the best bang for the buck out of all of them. The GTS will feel the most put together out of the 3. The emphasis on suspension and steering feel mixed with good power will make the GTS look and feel the part.
I daily the 400Z. My only complaint is that the driver side door is a little too "close in" so if my left hand is not on the wheel, my arm doesn't have too many places to go. That, and there's not a lot in the way of interior amenities like places to put your phone or a drink or your wallet. Outside of that, the interior is perfectly comfortable even on long trips, and since I have the manual my left hand rarely leaves the wheel anyway. The cargo space in the rear... exists. It's there. Seriously watch out for anything tall and harder than glass. I bounced the rear glass off a 6 pack of beer bottles when I went to close it. Luckily it was fine.
Should I assume you do your own maintenance? Most recommend it, but I always get curious. Also, appreciate the ownership update, what are some of the nuances and issues mechanically you've faced in the years of owning it, aside from the slippage.
Thanks for watching! Yes, I do my own maintenance aside from mount & balancing tires (plus alignment). This car is much easier to work on than expected. I strongly believe because there's more space by way of ti being an I6 vs. a V6, it's really confidence inspiring to maintenance. Oil changes, brakes, and spark plugs are such a breeze to do in this car. I can honestly say that many fear working on newer cars or just European cars and I can see why in some cases. There's a fair amount of tech in this car and I still feel very comfortable with doing mods or maintenance.Mechanically, the car is so good even at almost 50K miles! As for the slippage in 6th gear, since it's the weakest gear I really just monitor how hard I am on the car when i'm feeling motivated to go fast. Once I have the transmission built and upgrade the axles, it's something I won't worry about anymore.
@@VNGLRS That's good to know, and honestly great to hear. I saw someone showcase the ease in changing spark plugs and was appalled at how easy and fast bro was able to complete it.
For me at a long torso’ed 6’1” the interior rear view really blocked my forward vision especially in uphill RH turns. I removed the mirror ( torx ) and then carefully popped off the plastic panel above the mirror. Then I was able to rotate mirror 180* on it’s stem and reinstall it leaving off the cosmetic panel. . You can adjust the mirror up a couple or 3 inches when you leave off the panel. This somewhat compromises you view out the back but you get used to it. . There is an idiot light in the cosmetic panel that is held in by 2 screws. Remove this warning light and use double sided foam tape to attach it to the magic box that is above and to the right of the mirror. . Now when you are bombing into a RH bend you can see the apex without bobbing your head down.
you dont understand how much i appreciate this video. no one has every done something so clear about tall people in these cars. been in the market for a supra and no dealers near me have one to sit in currently. appreciate the detail in this video. earned a sub.
@@craigturton4940 for whatever reason the Z is thirstier. It still surprises me every now and then. I feel like the fuel tank is bigger but somehow manages to drink more gas 😂
Would you say that the lowering springs give you the same feeling as the OEM? Im looking into lowering my Z but im just hesitant that it won’t be as comfortable
Hey Omar! I’m running the Swift Springs on this Z. These retain the OEM feel (soft ride). RSR Japan also makes lowering springs that lower the car about the same amount but I can’t comment on ride feel. Best of luck!
You need to sit in one for sure. I’m 6’1” but long torso and short legs so my seat cushion to top of head is probably the same as someone 6’3” to 6’4”. I wish the Z had a lot more rearward travel for the steering wheel. The rear view mirror was my main impediment to being at ease driving the car .
REPRESENT!🔥🙌🏾 Yeah, I'm fortunate for my body build cause another 30-40 lbs would probably get a little too uncomfortable for me. I've been doing this coupe life since I was 17 so it's just second nature at this point. Thanks for watching!
Yes haha. I'm 6'3". I just posted a video on how I fit well in the Z. Transmission is great. Very smooth and the clutch feel is very consistent. Not too heavy, not too light. Feels nice!
They're out here sitting at dealers on the East Coast. I'd say the price is what's really keeping this in the "ghost" category. 1st year production was slow because of a paint supply issue. Now this year, the prices don't really make sense (even the NISMO is priced way above it weight class). Many are finding them for MSRP but G87 M2, and Supras (Used ones as well) are far better buys than this.
Really?! I’m surprised to hear that. I’m actually very interested in the NC1 NSX so I’ll definitely be checking how I fit in one haha The funny thing is that the cars I used to fit into 10 years ago ;185 lbs (S2000, Miata) are impossible for me to stay in comfortably at all now.
Hey Liz! I would definitely recommends getting one. It’s very daily-able. It’s very comfortable and obvious a great sports car. Just have the appropriate tire setup for the cold season and you’ll be fine 👍🏾
Thanks for watching man! Yeah, I want a chin spoiler that's not too large cause I like the more OEM+ look. A 25mm would look nice but IMO another 5mm isn't really necessary as it would force me to get adjustable LCAs to get the camber to an appropriate spec. Fi, ArmyTrix, and Valvetronic make valved exhaust systems for the Z.
Great video man! "Everything comes with time and hard work"... Preach! I'm definitely interested in a Supra. I'm gonna hold off a bit since my wife just got a 2024 X4M lol but I am a bit worried about my size and space in the Supra. I'm 5' 10 and 224lb. I was able to sit in a '23 Supra in an auto show, but I the car did not have its battery, so I was not able to adjust the seating to my linking, but I think I should be OK and fit in the car with seating properly adjusted. I'll probably shoot to get a used 2022-2024 next year, preferably with low milage.
Thanks for watching! I’ve been getting the question often recently and I’m happy to say you’ll definitely fit in the Supra. I’m 6’3” and 235 lbs. I fit just fine because I like to sit lower to the ground and really feel like in the car rather than on top of the car if that makes sense lol I’ll be making a video about this soon 👍🏾🔥
Thanks for the video. It's good to hear positive things about the car. Sadly my 2016 red nismo tech was stolen on Memorial Day so I was unexpectedly in the market for a new car. I settled on a black performance model with the red/black interior. Very tough combo to find. I should have it in a week or 2.
Sorry to hear your Nismo Z34 got stolen! I think you’ll be happy with this Z. The Black with Red/Black guts is a nice spec! I should be making some more videos in the near future with this 👍🏾
@@VNGLRS thank you! It still is a shock but onto the next Z for me. I’ve only seen 1 on the road & it was yellow which I don’t like. Lines of the car are great. 400hp should be fun.
Once I cover the difference of the negative equity of the money I have I will purchase a Nissan Z My last Z was a 300zx TT 91 I’ve had it for 12 years. The 350z n 370z never caught my attention but this one does
@@VNGLRS thanks man. I asked because I’m 6’4 and I’m thinking, really hard, on getting one. But I’m a little concerned about how much space is in there for guys our size. Do you have a video specifically on that?
I really appreciate it! Feel free to share the video on IG or Tik-Tok or something haha. This was in North NJ! Got my guys together last minute to shoot this.
Last month I finally saw one on the road. Then a week later a Lotus Emira. That seemed odd to me given how long this Z has been out. Back in January when shopping for the Z, 4 Nissan dealers within 15 miles of me had none in stock. Well maybe a Nismo. But no standard or Performance models. The dealers website said they had some in transit , but weeks away. I could not wait, so bought something else.
Yeah, seeing this car out in the wild is still like trying to find a needle in the haystack. Our community here in NJ so super small still. I think now these are selling at MSRP but I agree, a year ago these were not worth the markup put on them. That’s what turned a lot of people off (I don’t blame the people). What did you get?😎
@@VNGLRSwould def have linked with you back in the days.... i had a red sport Q60 FBO, then an evo X and a nismo 370.... just have a 24 frontier pro 4x now tho.... got back into motocross and got pretty tired of the car industry bending us over for every dollar right now .. beautiful car tho bro enjoy
The new Z is the best looking Z they have made since the early 90's 300Z. The front and sides of it remind me of the 240Z and the rear tail lights remind me of the 80's 300Z. ❤
