you spend the first part of the video talking about games no one bought. People don't sell at lower prices because of altruism. They sell at lower prices because of value. No one is going to buy Megaman at full price. Same for Spyro and all the other games you mentioned. TOTK sold 20 million copies in 6 months at $70 because open world Zelda has value. Same for the Mario and Pokemon games. If you think these other companies wouldn't want to sell their games at $60 to $70 you don't understand the gaming business or business in general.

Okay this video is about quality and effort. Yes, things are worth, monetarily, what people will pay. Fortnite V bucks, Gta shark cards, Fifa coins and mobile gatcha gems are the most "valuable" purchases in gaming. It's a pointless comment to make when its completely irrelevant to the video, which criticizes the CONTENT AND EFFORT VALUE of Nintendo games compared to the rest of the market.

I always tell people that I like Nintendo's games and its game development teams-- but I absolutely hate Nintendo as a business. I rode the Switch train for a while, but after spending a few months with it in 2017 and 2018, I realized that the console had way too many issues that I couldn't forgive it for. So now I'm strictly a PC gamer.
You know what sucks about Pokémon? The franchise is on par with Sonic The Hedgehog nowadays in terms of the quality of their games, and yet people defend the franchise despite its similar flaws to Sonic. It's not hard to see the big picture here. Both companies rush their products to the point where it's not even finished. The only reasons I can think of why fans defend Pokémon is Nintendo made their childhoods, their used to mediocrity like you said and they are too afraid to speak out because of how rabid Nintendo Fans are. As bad as the Sonic fans are, they do something right by calling out SEGA's schemes. The Pokémon Company and Nintendo? Not so much. Nintendo are not immune to criticism and they are not your friends.
I worked at Nintendo as a contractor for a year. All I can say is, I've hardly bought any Nintendo products since 2021 and I won't be buying any anytime soon.
Nintendo doesn't even have the luxury of the Switch being a "portable home console" anymore after the Steam Deck, which since it's literally a PC does things a thousand times better in ways they could never even dream of. You wanna know how Nintendo responded to all of this? By puffing up their big chests to scare off their "predators", taking down the Yuzu and Citrus emulators, and even being as unimaginably petty as taking down 20 year old Steam Workshop mods for Garry's Mod. I have no doubt that even more things will happen at any moment now. *Fuck Nintendo.* They've been a terrible company from the start and I'm tired of pretending they're not, the only difference now is that they aren't trying to hide it anymore. I'd dare even say they're worse than EA because they actually know how to fool people with their nonsense until the gig is up and moving on to the next thing. They are the most accurate description for being anti-consumer out there right next to other similar companies like Disney. I can’t even hook a monitor or TV to my Nintendo switch so I just said screw it. I’m hooking up my PC. Oh and I forgot to mention my PC is an actual gaming PC. It’s not office. I’m actually remodeling my gaming set up.
The only consoles that are good as Xbox and PlayStation I know PC is not a console, but those those three are probably the best gaming tech that you can have PC Xbox. With the Steam Deck, Valve won. Plays almost any PC game, both from Steam and third parties, doubles as a Linux laptop, banger specs, all the inputs you'll need, very affordable, and designed to be moddable and repairable. Plus EmuDeck. I use the thing as a laptop, for work, to play games, to emulate, the works. It may be the best console slash handheld I've ever owned. Meanwhile I also own a Switch. It doesn't run any of my older (e.g. 3DS) games, the only enjoyable games I've found so far are Smash and the Kirby ones (and one of those is essentially just a re-release), the only way to play older games is through a subscription service so you can't even OWN them, there's NOTICEABLE LAG during some sections of Kirby Star Allies... Eh. I have come to realize that I am a HAL fan, not a Nintendo fan. HAL makes good games - probably the other studios too. Nintendo makes bad, customer-unfriendly decisions. The ONE thing I'll still give Nintendo credit for is that they sell physical cartridges with games that do not require and online connection. We all know Ubisoft loves selling online-only games, then shutting those down a couple of years or months later.
As a Steam deck owner of my own they haven't, If they wanted actual competition, they need to sell their steam deck to the public and not just online. Also Valve has No interest in competing with Nintendo considering the fact they did Port the portal games to the switch while Nintendo allowed their controllers to be used on Steam software lastly may I remind you that *the console wars don't exist?*

Ok so first of all great video, I'm gonna be honest I'm not really a nintendo stan or anything but ig I just assumed this would be entirely biased nintendo hate, the title just kinda makes it look that way. But you were pretty fair and I think the vast majority of what you said made sense. As someone who has loved nintendo games for years I'm not blind to them being anti-consumer, especially as a adult where I have to buy these games myself with my own money. I bought a ps4 off my bro a few years ago and man you notice how much less anti-consumer sony is, it's wild. Their subscription service alone is just so much better then nintendo. Now as for the video I mostly agree with your points but I have a few disagreements first regarding xenoblade chronicles hd, I think that monolithsoft did the best they could with the remaster at the time and the main blame really should be on the dated awful switch hardware. Also I gotta be honest the art direction is really good, so I didn't even realize the game didn't go higher then 720p until you mentioned it here. It's possible they might have been playing trying to play it a bit safe as xenoblade 2 ran and looked horribly in docked, monolith might've been trying to avoid that. That being said xenoblade 3 looks even better so clearly they figured something out. Considering that the remaster of xenoblade 1 not only looks better but has a new epilogue (storywise the epilogue is meh but still) and the original game was so hard to get without emulation and honestly still is. Also the original is just really ugly and I'm not even sure if you can skip cutscenes. At the end of the day I really don't think xenoblade chronicles hd is overpriced at all, but agree to disagree I guess. As for mario odyssey I also have to disagree with 'all the worlds being in any order wouldn't change anything'? I'll agree there's some duds but come on, there's more then just bowser's kingdom and the moon, the wooded kingdom is great, luncheon kingdom is hilarious and fun, cap kingdom is great just should've been more indepth and longer, lost kingdom is really good too just a bit small for a late game world, new donk city is huge and there's so much to do, the sand kingdom is perfect, can't really think of any flaws outside of maybe being forced to walk if you can't find a jaxi, the mushroom kingdom which is just amazing fanservice and callbacks. I will agree that a decent amount of worlds are more bland and forgettable then they should be but to act like almost all of them are is wild. The game is definitely carried by the quality of some worlds, whereas others are pretty mediocre. As the moons are not nearly as samey as you act like they are, yes getting them all is a grind and it was far more tedious then it needed to be. But outside of the captain toad moons, the 2 kinds of scarecrow moons the hint art moons and the moons you just buy or get from showing a certain character a certain outfit most are pretty unique. As for it being a kids game designed for kids, all I ask is have you played a mario game? Other then sunshine they are generally pretty easy outside of the last few levels and or a secret unlockable difficult level/level. This comment makes me think you probably wouldn't like kirby forgotten land too cus even though that game has tons of great ideas, it's really easier until you start going for 100%. Overall this video is great and Nintendo fans really need to get their shit together and at the very least stop defending or forgetting about nintendo's shitty business practices.

Finally someone says it. I like Breath of the Wild, but it is an absolute snoozefest once you find enough respawning weapon caches to fill your inventory. Korok seeds are probably the worst idea for a collectible ever done in a Zelda game, and the world is too big to justify its emptiness at scale.
I hate Nintendo, was a fan since the DS and Wii era (even bought a Wii U) the amount of games they ported to the switch from the Wii U was too much for me. They charged each of them to $60 adding barely any content. I enjoy my Wii U because I have a ton of cheap games for it, however Nintendo keeps trying to ruin it, by removing some of the games that got ported to the switch. Personally the straw that broke the camels back for me was when they finally started charging for online on the switch, at first I was cool with it (After all it did come with some free NES and SNES games I allready own) but after a while I got sick and tired of paying for it, pay to play online is the entire reason I moved to PC and I would personally like to thank Xbox for this awful Business practice 💸 I also feel like Nintendo is “Too big to stop now” I hope I am wrong and we see Nintendo almost go bankrupt again (Like the Wii U days) these Nintendo fanboys are so out of touch from reality though, it’s absolutely mind blowing.

Movies and Theme parks won’t really do much for them because it’s all being done by third parties, (Universial and Sony) and will only do its best to build brand synergy, however I don’t know how effective it will be because all of their games is locked down to their own hardware with their own prices and control. All I’m saying is that Nintendo needs to open up if they want to continue just like what PlayStation is doing right now.
Time will tell if they will come to other platforms or not, they need more of a mobile and PC presence. They just bought a porting company so only time will tell what they do.
For all the talk of handheld mode, I sure haven't ever seen anyone carrying a Switch around and playing it like I did with 3DS/DS/Gameboy owners. *It's almost like a lot of people don't like the idea of risking their HOME CONSOLE out in public, huh...*
I had 2 regular switches, one new, one used, and both had issues with the SD Card reader within a week each. I also have a Switch lite but its size plus admittedly limited time I could play it outside the home made it not really worth it.
Being able to map controls in a non smash nintendo game? Pfft half the time theres not even audio sliders in nintendo games(the console button mapping doesnt account for games with unique or missing control features like camera control or whatever was mentioned)

i want to like this console so bad but every time I boot the device up I immediately have an urge to go back to playing on my pc or ps5. The games are so childish to the point where they are boring. The only game I liked was Metroid Dread, that was an amazing game. I want more of that. Not mario 2d re-released for the millionth time.
This is the point that some of the nintendo fans don't get and they'd still eat up these games, especially the pokemon games. That's why i'm buying a 3ds xl in 2024, at least with that console there was still love and effort put into their games. Thanks for the video!
I'm about a year late on this video, but I'm glad I found it after watching Nintendo controversies. You hit the nail on the head with how I've been feeling about Nintendo games since Super Mario 3D all stars. I literally looked at that collection of platformers and was like there's literally nothing new other than updated graphics and sound tests. I regret buying Mario Striker's battle charge because literally the entire roster is just the captain's with bland arenas. There is no Nintendo game since the switch has come out. In my opinion, it has come close to being a 10 out of 10, let alone a 7 out of 10, even smashed brothers. I was completely disappointed with the story mode and the laziness and spirits over trophies. Genuinely, I do not buy any Nintendo game now because it feels like I have to spoil myself and watch other people play it and put out gameplay in order to see if I even think it's worth it now, especially with games now hitting $70 for crap and that's on all platforms. But Nintendo has definitely become the company we're so rich. We're so loved. We don't have to try anymore, and people will still buy it. No matter what, they put out Mario Pokémon Kirby smash bros Mario kart. Everybody will drop their wallets in their bank. Because it's the next version, even though that version has not pushed the boundaries. Or come close to being better than the game before it. Nintendo definitely knows they're always gonna make money no matter what they put out, and we, as the people, need to learn to stop buying their games just because we love these characters. The games are not good anymore
I'm impressed how you were able to put together how i feel about Nintendo as a whole ever since i played Smash Ultimate. I was like 14 when i got the Switch with Botw and got myself Mario Odyssey when it came out and with my younger brain just being positive about a game the second it was fun, both those games were masterpieces in my book obviously. When Smash Ultimate came out, i wanted to play it, even tho i'm not a competitive player. The game having a story mode, the whole aspect of collecting spirits and being able to play it with some friends and my brother from time to time was what appealed to me. But the amount of polish, details, characters, maps, just the love they put into this game and how you are able to feel it was amazing to see and the dlc characters were also pretty good imo. The last time i felt that back then was with Pokemon Black/White 2 and nowadays, i only feel this with the soulsborne games or other gems like Celeste or Hollow Knight. But ever since Nintendo released Super Mario All Stars with not only the most minimum of effort put into it, full price and a time limit for availability, i grew very critical and cautious of everything related to Nintendo games or games in general, since everyone in their right mind would find this decision weird. I even grew to look back onto Botw and Odyssey and today, i think they are very mediocre and sometimes mindnumbingly boring. The only game on the Switch that came out since then, where i was positivly surprised by, was Mario Bros Wonder. The creativity alone that was put in it is genius and i was excited to see what the hell else they would go for every other level. Sure, some levels had the same ideas, but i can understand to an extent that not every single level can have an idea of it's own and that is fine. I still don't think it should be a full priced title, but it's more worth the money than most games i would say. Also, since i saw you are giving hearts from time to time even months after your one and only video, which i'm very impressed by that thats your only video and i'm gonna sub just in case a secomd video ever drops, i assume you read comments as well. So i wanted to ask what your opinion on Totk was after almost a year has gone by since it came out. Despite it's praise everywhere, i personally think it's quite the opposite and your opinion on it would interest me a lot.
Thanks for your comment. Mario Wonder is definitely a step up from recent Nintendo releases. I don't think it's perfect, but genuine effort and some creative and charming ideas in a very stale series is much appreciated. I wish you could equip multiple badges at the same time in the post game, or have a few levels where multiple badges are used. Some of them expand the movement/platforming mechanically, in a way I think the series has always needed. I have quite a few almost finished videos that I never got around to final passing, so I hope to release them at some point. One of them is about TOTK so I apologize for not being more detailed here (I want to be able to fully justify everything with examples), but I am pretty negative about that game. I think the lack of changes to the map and combat, the wasted potential of the underground/sky layers, and the unimaginative structured content around mechanics with insane potential (Ultrahand, fuse, rewind mainly) are the biggest concerns. It also sucks that for a game with some really impressive tech feats (again, the powers), the switch holds it back from not just performing smoothly but also having more happening on screen at once. I think it failed to fix the biggest problem with BOTW, and then added some cool new stuff with its own problems.

Just good to see that a series as old as this can change still and more badges than one would have been a welcome addition, since they could have made some more complex/demanding levels with it. For now tho, a good step in a better direction. From what you said about Totk, i would already agree on basically everything of the things you listed, but if a video is in the making, i'm gladly gonna wait for that with more details on why you think so.
I disagree with most of the points you made. I think that Nintendo makes mostly perfect games for the casual player base. I feel that you did a lot of yapping and pulled apart stuff that really wasn't that deep. From a critic point, you can find a problem with anything and i feel like calling the Nintendo's switch lineup "lazy, greedy, and incompetent" is a bit extreme. No offence though, I enjoyed the video.
Mostly agree about BOTW (apart from the breakable weapons), but saying Super Mario Odyssey is only for kids seems a bit of a lazy potshot. You really think Darker Side of the Moon was aimed at novices? (let me guess, you beat it blindfolded on your first try 🙄).
I understand your angle, but actually, yes. The game was designed to be simple. When you possess a frog, for example, you don't add frog powers to Mario's moveset like the fire flower adds a projectile. Instead, you strip everything away in exchange for a single mechanic. While games like Celeste add and combine mechanics to increase difficulty, Odyssey only ever asks you to do one simple thing at a time. Advanced movement or chaining together possessions is like never required, so the most difficult part of that game is literally "time your jumps." I'm sorry if that's elitist, but for someone with years of gaming experience, I do find that extremely easy.
@@bossrushgame bit of an unfair comparision as they're completely different types of games. Celeste has simple static 2D levels with no enemies (apart from special chase levels), and instantly respawns you in the same screen when you die. No 3D game really demands that specific kind of challenge, even Dark Souls doesnt demand the twitch reflexes of Super Meat Boy, They Bleed Pixels style games. Besides Final Kingdom took me longer to beat than any level in any of those games. 😅
I dont understand why other game companys get always critizised for there game prices or micro transsactions. But only very vew people seem to be mad about nintendos often extremly high prices. Games for Nintendo consoles almost newer go on sale. And remakes and remasters are to expensive.
Pokemon should have stopped at ruby capped the Pokemon but built serous lure around each one improving on them visibly and fine tuning the in game mechanics
