Warning: It may not work on the newer tougher coatings! I was very hopeful that this would work. I tried leaving the cream on even for 10 mins at a time. I realized my lenses have multiple coatings and it only took off the 1st layer and my lenses were still almost the same. So it really didn't work. It doesnt work on newer generation of coatings! (my lenses were from 2019) I also tried on an old pair as a test and it worked fine which were from 2010(older style of thinner coating)
Yes it works. I bought a different brand but same effect. 25 minutes and almost all gone. I noticed small scratches afterwards, and I am afraid it comes from the paste; I did rub a bit but I do not think it is needed; I suggest not to. Think the paste is a bit abrasive. After first treatment there were some coating left. It looked a bit cloudy so I did it again. Would like to add a warning as well: be very careful with ultra sonic washers + glasses. My AR coating shattered...
Just tried this on my trusty old pair of glasses. They are MUCH WORSE. In fact, I'll never be able to use them again. The coating was beginning to peel in a few places, so I decided to take it all off. Followed the instructions exactly. Both lenses are now patchy and cloudy. Beware.
My AE just came in today! I applied the coating, let it sit for about 5 mins, rinsed it and BOOM coating was gone! This stuff works. My only question is what type of material can I use to scrub the curvy part to remove the rest of the coating?
It works. I rubbed the paste on both sides of lens for 2 minutes. Rinsed with water. Anti glare scratches are gone with the anti glate coating. But it's 100 times clearer and I see with these glasses again.
Wow. Your vlog is absolutely captivating! Your creativity and hard work really shine through in every piece, and I can't wait to see the next ones in this series. Such soothing background music too.
Ok so i had these spots where the antiglare coating came off. It was very visible when they would transition to dark. I started with the outer lenses left the etching cream on for 5 min then began to rub the lens with the cotton swab. You will begin to see the coating come off and when you rinse it the first time it looks a little cloudy. Repeat the same process and the coating will come off and you will begin to see when you rinse, that it starts to have a clear lens I continued used several cotton swabs but eventually they were clear! You might have to do the edges along the frame again but it works! PLASTIC LENSES ONLY it will not affect the transitions
I did several pairs of glasses that I thought were ruined. I will never get anti glare coating again. And I didn't have to do the back of the lenses. Just don't get the etching cream on the back.
It took the tint off quite effectively but seemed to highlight the existing scratches on my glasses even more. This is only noticeable for the wearer so ended up being worse than before I tried fixing them. Glad it worked for some but it won't work for all.
i went to the store where i purchased my glasses... was told no way to remove... bought some of this AE at a local craft store... applied waited 5 minutes, rinsed WOW.. BOOM worked great ,, thanks..
Worked perfectly on my glasses. Thankfully mine were 20 years old and the older type of anti glare was used. I see some people have commented that it didn’t work for their glasses maybe they are newer version of anti-glare that doesn’t work with Armour etch. I’m very happy it worked on mine.
Well this just saved me £400! I asked for no coating on my lenses they came with an anti scratch one that I managed to ruin with some kind of spray. No idea what it was but I suspect a makeup finishing spray possibly. Took them to the optician who couldn't remove the blemished coating and advised a new pair for £400, I booked an appointment to purchase some more. Then I came across this video. After checking that my lenses were plastic and not glass, I asked the dispensing optician, I applied armour etch for 4 minutes. Coating gone, perfect vision, no horrible marks, thank you thank you thank you 😁
I must have the best coating there is cause I'm on my third application. I can see it getting better but it's wildly foggy and still a good amount of coating left to get off.
