Founded in 1998, HornTrader.com was the first of its kind and is still the best site to find quality horns, related gear, and information for the discerning trumpeter.
Most of the treat in these videos is your great, professionally seasoned playing Steve. Dear God. These horns probably want to smoke a cigar after you play em dude.
I definitely want to buy me a SCHILKE horn but I can't decide whether I want a tunable Bell like you're demonstrating here or the cheaper regular fixed Bell. In all your years of experience, what are the pros and cons of a tunable Bell and a regular fixed Bell?
Like I said in the video. You could have bells of different material or larger flare or even bells from other manufacturers. With the bell closer to your ear it's speaks quicker and also put the blow resistance either in front or the end of the horn depending where you like the bell placed. One other thing say you damage the bell they're are easily replaceable....... Thanks for tuning in the HornTrader! Best Steve :)
@@HornTraderI was told by instrument repairman that the tunable bell is meant to tune the instrument while the tuning slide tunes the 4th partial. Is that true from your experience?
@@pitgroove.37_66 Not Sure if that's true I'll ask Schilke, But, They a lighter in weight than conventional braced horn, more balanced, and bell does vibrate more freely with out the obstructive lower bell bracing.
Esistono ancora i bocchini Benge?

Hi Joe! Yes this NEW Schilke B1L just came in. (Good Eye!) Reeves alignment and thin and regular finger buttons, I love it, and it is for sale I just haven't listed it yet.
at the 10 second mark (In Boris Karloff voice) Yes, master! I'm down here in the Laboratory with the scalpels and the pitchforks. I've got all the electrodes assembled master-they make a beautiful sizzle.
Love it! We're cleaning horns now from a client who neglected his horn's and they respond like new horns. I'm very excited about our new Sonic Cleaning Service (SCS) Here's the link: www.horntrader.com/product-category/accessories-parts-cds-books/ultrasonic-cleaning/www.horntrader.com/product-category/accessories-parts-cds-books/ultrasonic-cleaning/
I have a ~'78 CG, ser# 27902. It has the bell made from Zig's .016 brass, buffed down to .014. So these Zig CG bells are even lighter than the older ones made from .020 brass, which stays that thick from the bell tail around to about the middle of the valve block before the buffing starts. And yeah, these horns just go ZING! For a longtime Bach guy, it's a different kind of girlfriend - the kind that grabs your hand and pulls you upstairs, LOL
3:33 another question, are you actually able to dump out all the liquids and moisture build up in the horn through the main tuning slide spit valve by just pressing down all the valves? Do you happen to know how that's possible? I'm asking because now I can't decide on whether or not I want want a spit valve or water key on the third valve slide as well
With all the valves down the air along (with any moisture) in the slides goes thru the 3rd slide last. If that doesn't work try pointing the horn up and blow with all the valves depressed. then turn the bell so all the moisture runs out of the horn through the bell.
Demoing a Flugel and NOT playing the opening lines to Feels So Good is the equivalent of a guitar player demoing in a Guitar World store and NOT playing Smoke on the Water. Kidding. Bonus points for playing the Dizzy lick in there. Those Couesnon's sound so buttery smooth.
Hi Steve, great demo! Are there any differences between different trumpets of this model? Are they very consistent, or can you find some that are less efficient?
@@HornTraderI guess I was expecting that price range for the tunable Bell horns compared to the regular fixed bell horns. Hey, I saw on the official website for schilke instruments And it looks like they offer both the conventional and the Amado style water keys. So that Amado water key was probably put on the horn directly by them, making it fully original
Hi Steve, beautiful sound! You are great! Is this a trumpet that you would describe as easy? To have fun and appreciate this instrument do you think is necessary to have good experience in playing trumpet? Thank you!
I owned this horn’s sibling horn, 2 years ago. I bought it for $2150. It just didn’t work for me well above high C, was too dark for the difficult commercial environments and the tough Ship gigs I play. If I had a less strenuous gig, I would’ve kept it. I kept it for 8 months… flipped it for $2,400. I like my $75 Nova Los Angeles better, for the tough endurance and range requirements I’m faced with. Go figure!
