MrPoppins was originally created just so as I could embed a particular video in the online forum for The Choirboys. At that time, I had recently become admin of their official forum and had also set up an unofficial Choirboys website to share videos of the boys various TV appearances that weren't included on their official website.
By the time of The Choirboys' second album, RU-vid postings became more regular and after The Choirboys, MrPoppins went on to support Alex Stobbs, a gifted musician whose remarkable achievements in the face of cystic fibrosis were documented by Channel 4, and then 2008 Britain's Got Talent finalist and Carlisle Cathedral chorister Andrew Johnston.
These days it takes a lot to stir me into into action, but two of the performances (The Poppy Girls and Jack Topping) at this year's Festival Of Remembrance did just that. I am now following these two acts with interest to see how they fare.
With proud thanksgiving, a mother for her children, We all mourn for the dead across the sea. Flesh of her flesh they were, spirit of her spirit, Fallen in the cause of the free Fallen in the cause of the free They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old: Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morning We will remember them Solemn the drums thrill: Death august and royal Sings sorrow up into immortal spheres. There is music in the midst of desolation And a glory that shines upon our tears A glory that shines upon our tears They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old: Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morning We will remember them We will remember them Adapted from For the Fallen poem by Robert Laurence Binyon (1869-1943), which was first published The Times newspaper on 21 September 1914.
UPDATE! presenter Huy Edwards now persona non grata as a convicted child sex image offender! The Poppy Girls? still as fabulous now as they were 2013¬!
Thanks for sharing this. Painful to watch Patrick, knowing how tragically his life would end around a decade later. Hope you won’t mind my sharing a longer version I found, which includes the boys being interviewed briefly before they start singing: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-fKpJuRfJolE.htmlsi=6t-Xn-66ZxSAORyi
I have seen this video several times over the years, and the ending always leaves this American Army Brat in tears. It has been over 50 years and I still remember clearly the day my dad came home from Vietnam, alive.
It's lovely but it piss me off if her old man was a rating he would of been pied off. I've had mates who have had family die when they're away yet they don't gey flown off to say their last goodbyes even when the navy know they are at deaths doors. One rule for officers another for ratings
On 12 April 2017 at age 23, Patrick Aspbury was hit and killed by a train at Chelmsford station in the UK while a patient at the mental health clinic Linden Centre in Essex. May the young man find Rest There that evidently eluded him Here . 🌹🌹
when ten year old girl is the youngest is only 10 that it might be hard for a ten-year-old to be singing and to have a father fighting for the military forces

I wonder if the other four girls have their families with them, including their dads watching live in the Royal Albert Hall that night but I get the feeling that at least the older three knew this was going to happen
Thank you for having this on RU-vid in 2023. What a lovely video with Heavenly voices. It was so lovely to see the deployed father walking down to his daughter in front of the Queen back 9 years ago with others from the Royal Family. That was so moving and inspiring. Thank you to all men and women who serve in every country. I love these Royal events in honour of our Defence Personnel. This was such a special moment for the Poppy Girls and everyone there plus all of us still saying thank you to everyone who helped make this special event happen. God Bless and Keep all.
