On this channel we will feature board wargames/conflict simulations--both new and classic. Mostly WW II to modern. Sorry no Napoleonics or Civil War. Check out my game designs at: 6Actual.us and books I've written at: rayfiore.com Email: raf@6actual.us
There is now an iOS/Mac/PC version of this called “Carrier Battles” if you don’t want to learn 70 pages of rules because you still have a wife and career ;)
@@6.Actual that’s a shame. Would’ve been nice to see another persons take on such an excellent game. Have you got somebody lined up to play against or is it doubtful that you’ll actually get a game in at all?
Everything completed on my end. Getting vassal module made to start some playtesting to ensure a balance of play. After that there may be some minor tweaks, then I guess it goes to Brittani for QC check, then to printer.
Had this for years. And never played it. Mainly due to the fact that nobody could commit to the actual amount of hours of gameplay required. However I’ve recently spent hundreds of hours converting it to steam format. Albeit slightly rough around the edges but still functional. And luckily for me my son in law is a massive game fanatic, we have already sunk tons of hours into playing this superb ( old school ) war game. It’ll be interesting to see how you get on with it and maybe a gameplay video. Thanks for posting this video I’ve been scanning RU-vid for years looking for some kind of reference to the game, and I think I can honestly say this is the first.
No I converted the actual hard copy of the game and all its components to digital. I then imported them to Steam. It took such a long time, the map required lots of work and each component was individually photographed and imported. Worth it though.
Thanks Andrew! I know that viewer’s time is important, so I don’t want to waste it. I create the outros, but if you are asking whose voice that is, it’s Mrs. 6 Actual.
Thanks! Were you an actual “6 actual”? I was a 6 Actual as an active Field Artillery Officer and as an active duty Army Doctor ( I commanded a Forward Surgical Team in Iraq. V/R. Mike
9/16" counters are industry-standard, not tiny. Component quality is industry-standard or above. If the text size bothers you, get glasses. Wargaming is a tiny industry: moving production out of China would not affect China's economy, it would just make games cost more.
A friend of mine and myself played the heck out of that whole system. I had them all, and we cooperatively played them all, many of the missions 2 and 3 times. The solitaire game that i only played a few times solitaire! We'd split the squad 4 & 4, with a commander in each half squad. A wallet busting price! Lol, I can imagine! That game has got to be nearly 40 years old by now!
I only own Ambush! from back in the day. I think it was the over-the-top cover art that turned me off. Now I wish I had bought the whole series. Thanks for the video! Cheers.
Great video. One of the best unboxing videos I've seen for a game. I finally got to pick up a copy of Heroes of Normandie, and all I could find available (in my price range) was this Big Red 1 Edition. I haven't had the time to open my copy yet, but this looks excellent! If I like playing this, I would totally go for the new Pacific game set for a 2024 release, but last I read, the publisher Devil Pig Games closed its doors!
I recently picked up this game, too! I was intrigued because it looked like the game that Luftwaffe wanted to be when it grew up 😂. That and the fact Bomber was designed by the great S. Craig Taylor. Thanks for the video! Cheers.
