Thank you so much for this review. I blindly trusted the Google brand and assumed the quality would be top notch. I was ready with my album and about to pay when I thought I'd check some reviews before placing the order. Glad I found your video, I've now decided to get my photo book printed elsewhere
Maybe they have already improved the quality, but we don't know. I also trusted Google blindly and was disappointed badly. So you better go to any print center or online pro print company
Do like the convienience of this product but thanks for saving us from a mediocre product - probably OK in desperation mode a day or 2 before something like fathers day. PS you have some great shots there.
@eliasstockholm9165 - You dare to say that ? Pay back 800 billion of PLN = 200 billion USD - for stolen and burned goods from Poland in years 1655 -1660.Poor Sweden robbed the then much richer Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth of a huge amount of treasures in the 17th century. Today, Sweden does not want to return them to Poland According to the Swedish cultural historian Emma Hagström Molin, the motive for the robbery of Poland by the Swedes was simply jealousy. In that era, a nobleman or prince built his identity through the things he owned. The Swedish elite was aware of the cultural richness of Poland , as well as the fact that they could not compete in this respect with the aristocracies of other countries like Poland - the biggest and wealthiest country in Europeg in XV - XVII century . ."After the European Thirty Years' War, Sweden gained a strong position on the southern coast of the Baltic Sea, with large idle armies and empty royal coffers. Therefore, the most important issue for the Swedes was, among others: obtaining loot for the pay of a large army. The Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth, exhausted after the wars with Khmelnytsky's Cossacks and Russia, seemed to be such an easy prey. Additionally, the Swedes were favored by the fact that the Polish army was involved in the Polish-Russian war. Another effect of the war are irreparable material and cultural losses. Although most Polish castles and fortresses surrendered to the Swedes without a fight, they were destroyed and looted .Many of the once great residences (Krzyżtopór Castle in Ujazd - the owner spent 30 million PLN at that time to buld and furnish his castle , today it is 16 billions of USD ) the biggest castle in Europe - 13000 square meters , Ogrodzieniec Castle, Chęciny Castle, Olsztyn Castle) were never rebuilt after the Swedish Deluge and never regained their glory; we only know the images of some thanks to the works of the Swedish military officer Erik Dahlbergh. Not only libraries and treasuries were looted, but also the relics of saints (e.g. Saint Stanislaus from Krakow) and architectural details (e.g. marble dolphins from the fountain in the royal castle in Warsaw) were taken away. Completely destroyed: 188 cities, 186 villages, 81 castles, 136 churches, 30 mills, 10 breweries, 89 palaces. Many cultural assets were taken away or destroyed, including archives, entire libraries and large amounts of documentation. The population in Poland has decreased by 40%. Swedes burned down 55 % of existing Polish castles , villages and towns , killed 40 % of people . Swedes stole even our Polish national anthem manuscript - sitting on display in museum in Upsali . Swedes - a nation who mostly invadeed neighbouring nations . Your museum treasures are mostly equpped with artefacts stolen form Poland . You burned down and looted the biggest castle in Europe located in a village Ujazd . Poland was constantly invaded by Germans , Russians . They never invaded one on one , but waited for Poland to be involved in another war . Poland without such wars would be a gem like country with castles no worse than French . Germans killed 1/5 of prewar population and made losses worth 1 trillion of PLN . When will you repay ??????????????? How can you people write such such critical texts - do you know at least a fraction of Polish history, how many times Warsaw fell to foreign troops`s hands , how many times Poland was invaded, burned, destroyed, even after the war we had no peace, we were robbed by the Soviets. They even ordered the closure of new oil deposits in Karlino so that the Lithuanian (then Soviet Mažeiki) would have greater pressure in the deposits. They forbade us to build nuclear power plants, now Germany forbids it. Shame on your ignorance
Damm. I just ordered a photobook of 140 pages of my journey in Japan. Pictures were taken by Lumix professional camera, and like you, i thought the downloaded pdf was just a preview. I'm trying to contact google service to delete the order. I did it yesterday, on sunday. Today it already results printed and delivered. How can it be possible? It's definitely a fraud!! How can i move?
Да ты просто показал типичную русскую деревню на Дальнем Востоке и выдал еë за приличный обычный российский город. Тем более это окраина Ключей и деревня она и есть деревня, такие по всей России расположены.
To bad kraków is still full of cars. Some roundabouts like grzegórzeckie are unbearable outside of car because of the noise. And of course you need to run to cross the street in one go. Cracow is still light years behind e.g. Netherlands in terms of urban design mentality
Kraków is old and not designed for modern life, this indeed creates some transport and other issues. This is the old town adapting for modern life's purposes. It is not perfect indeed when it takes to urban design, but it is great considering how good it was adapted while saving the old historical part
How good are standard Google Photos prints? The ones for $0.18? I see glossy/matte options and wondering if you think they are good for standard prints not in a book
Yeahh we dont see this modern glass infrastructure side of poland. When I think of poland only images of churches and great old castles come in my mind
Great job with this video. I quickly did a google search for photo book reviews because the images on my photo book are HORRID. The vibrancy of the colors are gone, and the photo quality looks as bad as printing from a standard home printer onto office paper. They're so grainy, and so bad that it almost looks like a cartoonish comic book quality. And for the record, I even pay for the 100GB premium version of google drive and photos to store high quality photos taken with my Google Pixel 7. Google should be ashamed for a completely awful experience
@@Valdemaaar I want to my email about the order and asked them for a refund. They asked me to send pictures and I showed them the photo quality and told them to work with a different photo printer company. I just received a full refund after a day. Didn't need to return my photo book too. I recommend everyone do this if you feel disappointed in your book
The difference in quality between the original and the pdf version may be made less stark due to RU-vid compression and the quality of the screen on the device you're using to watch the video
Google Photo Books weren't always this bad. I've ordered about ten books over the past four years, and the first few were of much higher quality--not just concerning the image compression, but the cover and the binding quality. I ordered two more for the holidays last year and the quality had completely dipped, exactly how you describe. The first shipment of these books included books in which the pages actually fell out, or were easily removed simply by turning the page. After contacting them and receiving a replacement, the binding had been fixed, but still was nowhere near the original quality from a few years back. They obviously changed the printing process at some point in the last two years. I'll never order from them again.
Thanks for sharing your story, Josh. I didn't know the quality was better and then they started compressing images and producing low quality books. People seems to doubt my story, but what I actually intended to share is a true disappointment. I would never believe Google may produce such a crappy product. Don't trust my review? Order your own one and enjoy ;)
I have ordered a google photobook every single year for my girlfriend for the last 6 years. They were are really great quality and anytime I had an issue, they fixed it for free and without hassle. Last year I ordered the book as usual and the quality took a HUGE hit. I'm trying to research now if it was a one-off thing or if this change was permanent. If so, I'm going to go with another company. So not only has the price doubled since I started ordering these books but the quality dropped drastically. Have you had a chance to order a book recently? If so, how is it now?
Totally agree, there are indeed many similar rural/abandoned places in almost every country. The main point is WHY do you invade other countries if your own land is inhabited and poor?
@Valdemar they don't care about these people, that's really it. The government cares for money and power and the loyal among the upper echelons... they don't give a damn about much else and especially not about people living in shacks in the east... most wars at their core are about acquiring resources or power over resources. Ukraine has resources (food, energy) that other countries rely on which Russia's government (and their cronies) wants to create a monopoly over. Everything else, all the rhetoric is just smoke and mirrors - they're not the first country to do it and they won't be the last sadly 😔
