Hi Mate, I’ve just grabbed some cheap new 38 Rythem’s for my Trance eMTB. The Trance is 140rear 150front do you think the 38’s @ 170 would be ok or I’d be better to drop them to 160. Cheers, great vid
Do you have to take apart the damper side as well why can't you just replace the airespring if you're increasing the travel or not to bother with the other side?
I’ve seen videos where people use 20ml of fox 20wt oil instead of grease internal to the air damper. This stops the equalisation port becoming blocked and causing excess grease to pooling in the bottom of the damper causing poor small bump response. What’s your thoughts on this?
Thanks! Is there any alternative to the press to hold while unscrewing, and without drilling holes etc? Also, for the bullet tool, alternative? I noticed now its fully sucked down and cant solve it.. Fox 38 on new bike... So the spring should move freely when its fixed, because mine can be only be pulled by pushing on the rear end with something blunt, its so much sucked in. On 150PSI it does not extend to full travel... Brand new fork...
Ha ha yep, some are challenging….. the fox air spring tool helps a lot when they are stuck… & the transfer port is full with grease. hopefully your forks are feeling mint now !! 🎉
You didnt really show how to flip the chip. I just flipped the chip on my SC Hightower V3 and I had to flip the chips on both(!) sides. Theres the regular flip chip on the left side of the bike and some sort of counter bolt which also says hi / lo. I had to flip both of them ...
Question, i've bought Fox 38 Factory 27.5 with FIT4 damper. The fork has 170mm of travel and i would like to swap the damper to grip2. It's a 820-18-336-KIT and it says 180mm travel. Is that going to fit for my 170mm fork?
Hey, great vid. Sadly you skipped the part where you broke the shaft end nut open without a torch. How much more force did you have to use in the clamp? How much more torque did you have to use to break it free? Did you hit the spanner with a hammer to break it free or? Cheers.
Great vid! I have a brand new 38 I rode today for the first time and it’s pretty harsh, I wasn’t happy at all with it, gonna take it apart and check what you’ve shown, thanks!!
@@MTBzine hey yeah I saw what seems to be common with a bunch of extra grease. I cleaned and reassembled with the right amount and it did actually help a lot. Worth it for sure.
Hey dude can you tell me what „protectors“ you use on that bike? I mean the things infront of your internal routing on the left side steeringtube? Thanks Greetings from Germany
Hi, where do you think all the fat is after the piston has moved up and down a few times? I tell you. It's everywhere but no longer where it should be so it lubricates the piston well. I thought about it for a long time and found a solution so that the piston is permanently lubricated. But with this method, which FOX also recommends, it doesn't work. Greetings Andy
Did it help with pedal strike? Just picked up my 5010 and was hitting the pedal often on my first ride? It should give it a little extra clearance correct?
This is the first online guide I've seen so far that demonstrates removal of that stupid rebound adjustment dust cap. I just got a 36 and I had no idea how to remove that thing, and the manual doesn't say. Thank you!
Good morning from England. Can you change it to 150mm aswell as I can't find any info on it anywhere. You can buy 150mm air shaft but a friend told me it wasn't a straight forward swap like 160mm and upwards. Any info would be 👍 👌
Purchased SB130 with T3 XX1 Eagle axis. Original dealer was not very helpful in adjustments after the sale ( Ridleys Okotoks AB) so started going to the Bike Shop South Calgary. Last season went out 2-3 times a week from May - Sep 2021. This season only went out on six occasions starting July 2021 when I had a flat tyre, so the chain was coming off intermittently in the front , I requested the tech to look at it. He said my rear rear derailleur hanger needs adjusted. Picked up the bike next day & went out the day after. 20 meters on to the trail the chain wont stay on to the highest cog had no issues ever before & loud GRUNTING noise + ALSO A SQUEEKING NOISE any any gear whenever I am putting any thrust to either climb on an incline or pedalING hard on flat. Went back the another tech noticed a highest cog had a tooth missing(I only weigh 56Kgs!) , amazed this happened in just 2 mins of riding. She said this is normal wear & tear, not covered under warranty. New one is $800 ( CAD) I followed through sent your video, they changed the cassette paid $850, they said they will send it for a claim but not optimistic. He said the derailleur hanger is bent & has adjusted this. Grunting noises with new cassette is at this link: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-IHveEejb-Cs.html I am worried, I wish I did not had a flat tyre. There was nothing wrong really apart from the chain coming off. I did write to them to SRAM they respond warranty claim has to be through the dealer, it appears to me it is very subjective based on what the dealer says. Now I am concerned is they say the rear derailleur also needs replaced another $600 Phew this a barely ridden near new bike!
Sounds like horrible service…. It is a premium bike, and axis has perfect shifting as long as you set it up correctly ! You tube is your friend in this case ….. look up sram axis install and do all the adjustment’s your self. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-FBkX44-C8AM.html
@@Warby0 So the bike shop replied back: Hi Vishal, I'm sorry to hear about those issues. They seem like they are manageable issues that can be easily resolved. Please bring your bike by when it is most convenient for you and we will be happy to help. On a more pressing note, We did hear back from Sram today with regards to your cassette. They unfortunately are not going to cover the replacement under warranty. The reason they provided is that it is not eligible due to its age. I know this is not the news you were hoping for and I will be happy to answer any questions you may have. Thanks, Anthony. I am so very annoyed, there was no missing tooth in the cassette, until I started riding after they apparently, adjusted my derailleur. What options do I have ? Its $850!
Hello mate great video on servicing air can I have just done mine on a pair of 38’s no problems doing it but I have noticed when I pull up on the bars I get a banging noise when the forks are at full stretch (air can fully extended) any ideas what I have done wrong cheers.
Does this or potentially can it fix, the slight initial 5mm or so play at the bottom. With pressure in my shock, and properly cycling the suspension as I’m airing it up I can still pull my fork out 5mm or so.
Hey bud. Great videos. I have an opportunity to buy a levo SL comp with the 38. I'm 6'4 220 with gear on. It's got 180mm travel. Specialized E-bike rep doesn't recommend running a 38 on these bikes. Why? You seemed to love it. Is it voiding the frane warranty or something?
I have cracked 3 frames on my levo…. All in the head set as they are a carbon cup head set running 170mm forks. (All replaced under warranty) What is the weight limit on the levo sl frame ?? Levo is ruffly 125 kg. Levo and levo sl were designed as 150mm front travel bikes… buy putting 180 38’s (bulky stiffer forks) on the standard frame transfers a lot more stress to the frame head set….hence them trying to void warranty. On another note I would definitely suggest servicing the air spring … 38’s are always clogged with grease.
