Thanks for posting this one. Was good to get the part numbers for the specialty tools. One question how much of this is the same as the 2018 3.5 ecoboost in the explorer???
Book time on my 18 F150 3.5T phasers, chain, water pump, etc (with some minor exceptions, the job you spelled out here) was 18 hours. I came in right at that with your guidance and I took my time over a 3 days stretch to let things cure before starting and cleaning up. Thank you ever so much for taking the time to compose this and to all of you wondering, this is spot on instruction. Follow this step by step and you will cure what ails your beast. Now on to fishing!
Im looking into buying an LTR (possibly).. and thought about putting kick on it like my TRX had.. glad i found your video. You seem like a super dope guy, definitely dropping a like! Hope to see more builds and possibly racing in the future
Thank you for the video! I have a question, when I look up the part numbers for the phasers in the description, the fitment says for 2021-2024, but I have a 2018 and from what I understand is a gen 2, should I still use? Thanks again!
YOUR VIDEO IS THE ONLY ONE THAT SHOWS HOW TO TAKE OUT THE GRILL PARTS PLUS THERE IS NO BS ON HOW TO TAKE IT APART. THANKS FOR KEEPING IT REAL AND STRUGGLE ONE HAS TO GO THROUGH. GREAT VIDEO
You nailed it with the frame color. I would never have thought that color on a frame would go with the bike. Nice work. I have a 1989 and a 1998 one with the 92 OEM teal fuel plastic both white.
I had this video up in my garage while I was doing the job, I have a good amount of mechanical experience and this guide was fantastic. The torque specs are a solid addition, not a ton of unnecessary fluff, and I would have only varied from his sequence for personal preference. This was a great guide and much appreciated, thank you for taking the time and effort!
I would think that shortening the spring would cause the action to be stiffer, as the spring has more deformation with less turns, than it would with more turns. Eg, if you consider the spring as a straight piece of wire, the longer the wire is, the less it twists/flexes over a specific length vs a shorter wire. It would probably make more sense to only adjust the tension by relaxing the preload of the spring, eg how much tension it has at the closed position. That is, skip the first part of your mod (removing coils), and just adjust the tang from "9 to 3 o'clock"
I just got my first ltr. It will fly. Runs awesome and everything but this unit will not idle. Changed fuel pressure reg. Fuel pump runs. Runs the three seconds and cuts off. I bump start it using second gear take off and go everywhere do whatever. I come to a stop and it will just die.
