I dont think its bad if you like straight hair either, there is nothing wrong with it. I believe people should be able to wear their hair how ever they want without being criticized

My God sister who is black has large gray curls. A friend of mine who is a white Jew ask me if she was prejudiced when I told him for years she's always used to term "good hair". 2 months ago I asked her what does that mean and she said something in regards to hear that's not nappy. Considering she's black, It sounds ridiculously weird. Personally, I don't like the term nor do I use it.

Hairstyle should be anyone’s choice, as long as it’s clean, I like seeing all styles of hair, it’s a choice, and should be, unfortunately it’s not to others..

They need to throw all those male n female hair relaxers off the shelves n burn them. I'm so glad Africans have returned to our natural curly, wavy & coliy hairs ❤ its so beautiful, its so rich, its so royal & its so free. Its disgusting. Groom your naturally curly, wavy & coily hair. Its sexy and beautiful, not just "cute". A dog is what you call cute okay. The chemical creams were burning our scalps and penetrating damaging chemicals into out blood streams just to adhere to European people's superiority beauty standards. Its disgusting. I was born in 1998 and i remember while attending prep school in Jamaica, which was still under colonialist influence by English beauty standards, my mom use to wash my hair, mosturize it with hair oil, comb it out and let it in a afro puff and my principal use to call me to the office, call my mom and tell her to "comb my hair" even suggesting relaxing my hair and wearing it let out. What was the difference is one hair texture was acceptable, the other which i was wearing was not 😭❤

When? Africans bleach their skin at an alarming rate. BW have been relaxing their hair decades and skin bleaching will do you before a relaxer.

SHALAM THIS IS TRULY BLACK PEOPLES FAULT FOR GOING ALONG WITH THIS BULLSHIT. YOU WANT TO BE LIKE OUR ENEMIES/OPPRESSOR SO THEY USE THE WEAK MINDED BLACK WOMAN FIRST, YET THE BLACK MAN NEVER NEVER DEFEND NOR PROTECT HIS WOMEN, DAUGHTERS, MOTHER, AUNTIES. INSTEAD OF WANTING TO BE WITH BE AROUND BE VERY HUMBLE ABOUT WHAT OUR HEAVENLY FATHER YAHWEH HAS GIVEN HIS CHOSEN PEOPLE WE GO AGAINST OUR CREATOR. SO WE HAVE ANGERED OUR CREATOR SO OUR CREATOR HAS ALLOWED OUR ENEMIES/OPPRESSOR TO DO THESE EVIL WICKED THINGS TO HIS PEOPLE. WAKE UP AND COME OUT OF THE WAYS OF OUR OPPRESSORS DOINGS OF THIER LIFESTYLES. YET TODAY WE STILL DO IT, NOW YOUR BOLD EDGES, LOST OF YOUR OWN HAIR WITH THESE WEAVES, RELAXERS. well my natural hair is baldness that started at 17. standards of beauty pressure people to do medical treatments instead of a simple hair piece. wearing a hair piece brings more stigma than being bald, and really I just want to be left alone. so i prefer to show my baldness even if i like the look of a certain wig or hair piece. wearing a wig or hair piece does NOT = shame of baldness, it is just a look

I am a black man adopted by white parents. I started growing out my hair when I turned 18 and the comments, remarks, and opinions of my family hurt me. I took it Very personally. My black sisters had no problem growing theirs but as soon as the black male son grows his... I ignored their comments and continued to grow it. I have a big glorious afro now and I love it. I fucking love it. I have received many compliments from strangers. Not a single one from my family.

You are a strong person. Anyone else would succumb to the pressure, especially from family, but you defied all comments and opinions and did it anyway. That's something that was inherited by your real Parents, something that is unique and rare. Always be yourself King.

As a white man born in 1967, there was a lot of mystery regarding black hair. For instance, when I had my first "real" job, I didn't understand how a black woman could have one length of hair one day, then turn up with a longer length the next. However, sometime in the '90s, I believe a lot of that mystery unfurled and became public. After that, I believe a good portion of white people sort of understood a little of how the styling and such of black hair is.
@sophiekdavis
@sophiekdavis 3 года назад
Our hairs naturally curly and of course if you put straightners in curly and tightly coiled hair the length will change

Why do white people need to "understand"out hair though Its honestly none of anyone's business to judge us for our hair for anything .

This is one of the best natural hair documentaries produced! You've done an excellent job giving the stage to a vast variety of shades of Black people. Most of the other documentaries are very light complexion, and one-sided. You've done your research, and it is reflected in an A+ completed, convincingly compelling work. Thank you!
