For years I had high hopes for this show. They wavered as it got closer, and they were crushed by the end of the first episode. I’ll probably still watch whatever Star Wars does next, but I don’t expect to enjoy it.
@johngreenaway1472 After The Force Awakens, I did a lot of research and learned a huge amount about how the Original Trilogy was created, and such forth. It was then I learned just how much the ideas had changed over the years. Then came The Last Jedi... and I was done. And nothing has come along to make me want to return, just for a little bit. If you are doing reviews, that is a reason... but at some point you have to ask why do it. There is plenty of other films and series that could be reviewed. Anyway, hope you find something positive in future Star Wars series.
True, but there’s also the factor of people who already subscribe to the service, so any of those people aren’t generating any additional revenue. I’m watching it on my mom’s Disney+, which she would be paying for regardless of me, so I essentially get to watch it for free. (Although I mostly use it to watch golden age Simpsons.)
You do realize that everything in the Bible points to Jesus, right? Joseph and his life was a foreshadow of the Lord; Moses was a foreshadow of the Lord; the events of Noah is a foreshadow of the Lord; Jonah's life was a foreshadow of the Lord; Ruth and David. All of it! Jesus Himself even refers to these things! God's hand was throughout the events of Queen Esther. All of these things point to Jesus and what He did and does for His people! The Father and Jesus are One, just as it says in John 1:1 "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God." Read through the book of Zechariah and you will see how Joseph is a foreshadow of Messiah. Read the Gospels and you will see how Joseph, Moses, Jonah, and Noah are foreshadows of Messiah. Even the Letters point these things out, especially the book of Hebrews. One thing I will say though, I don't think it fits with Samson. Other than that, Sight and Sound is spot on with bringing Jesus into every play.
I am aware of the numerous parallels throughout scripture, I was just saying that the presentation at Sight and Sound often seemed a bit ham-fisted. Insightful comment all the same!
quality review John, haven't gone to see the movie myself yet but obviously I had to get some feedback from someone as prestigious as you on the matter ;)
