Welcome! Here's what we do:

TheMissingLettr: Episodes of TheMissingLettr tend to feature more comedic reviews of TV Shows, video games, and movies! You never quite know what to expect from his show, and that's the best part!

Octo's Corner: A show focused mainly on in depth analysis of anime, with shorter video essays here and there. He also does deep dives, which are perhaps the greatest examples of overthinking you'll ever see.

Shootin' Lemons: Streaming games to make memories as best friends, mainly for our own enjoyment. If you catch us live, feel free to join in! Also enjoy Shootin' Lemons highlights which edit the streams down into our favorite moments.

Bibliomania The Animation: A fan series based on Macchiro and Orville's little known manga, 'Bibliomania'. Octo animates the series almost exclusively by himself, so it's a very slow process, but rest assured, work is always happening in the background!

Regardless of what brought you here, we hope you enjoy what you see!

I actually really liked this show, but much of that was due to content that was improved for the adaptation. Reading the manga, there were some fun moments, but the writing wasn't there and it turned rancid by the end. I left Gleipnir extremely disappointed.

Also, some of the Wixoss manga are also very good reads, certainly better than Diva.

Yes this is such a perfect review of the show why did the algorithm not show it to me ages ago. Also, the game is out in English now and it's fun.

Hey friend, digging your videos. Could you possibly soften the strobing effect? It makes your analysis a bit tough to watch… but you do you! Have a great day!
@TheMissingLettr
@TheMissingLettr День назад
Yes, absolutely! In the interest of safety and care for my photosensitive viewers, newer content of mine does avoid this effect. It's still there on occasion for aesthetic reasons, but in older videos like this one, I hadn't yet learned to be accommodating to people's eyes, unfortunately. You'll see much less of this affect in the Nichijou video, should you choose to watch it, as well as all future videos, should they release.

Funny part about people not finding were to go in kingdom hearts is that there are hints on were to go and some characters straight up tell you but people just ignore them. Like in agrabah and carpet flies of Donald says hey it flew towards the desert and the average player for some reason decides that the desert is in the direction of the palace instead of being like o.O i was supposed to head outside of the city through that big open door. So if people werent button mashing and read the dialogue then figuring out were to go would actually be fairly easy mostly.

There are so many things here which I agree with. Short form, proper narration and allow ambiguity. You don’t need character building and shockingly it’s barely necessary to introduce the world in which the stage is set. Good writing requires understanding your audience, trust your audience and understand the genre you’re writing in. The human experience isn’t universal but there are plenty things we have in common. You’re not going to reach everyone, you’re not going to please everyone and that is something all creators must accept. If there is going to be a twilight zone successor, it needs to stop trying to be “The Twilight Zone.” Tell the story that makes you shiver, makes you steam with outrage or the thoughts which revisit you when you least expect it. The rest are puppets and set dressing. Sorry it’s a long comment. Thank you for reading it. Thank you for the video.

How does this video not have hundreds of thousands of views?! You have a fantastic video here, with delightful editing that mixes in gags without going overly annoying with them. You told a personal story that brought me joy, and that final sting at the end was incredibly satisfying. I enjoyed the game when it came out, but man did I feel the same. It was as convoluted and disjointed as all the scattered worlds would imply. Thanks for making this video. It was very validating. :)

The Divine Comedy - Dante's Inferno features 9 layers of hell. I believe that Made In Abyss is an adaptation of this poem
@boanoah6362
@boanoah6362 Месяц назад
One other aspect of the lovecraftian eldritch horror not explored here is that the Abyss may be in itself a living creature, one that lures in victims with treasure and adventure. It's even mentioned that relics and items of great value are seemingly moved around without anyone knowing how or why. As of the latest chapter it's even revealed that people who die from the birthday-death disease are just part of a culling that occurs every 2000 years. Further there's mention of the Abyss having 'incarnations' that are capable of speech and foretelling the future which makes me think the Abyss is itself an eldritch God. Perhaps like Iryumui the very Abyss is but an ancient unknowable entity that also had a childish wish...
@celiafrostborn
@celiafrostborn Месяц назад
If you only focus on the surface of the abyss, you will never appreciate the finer detail. That's what people who look at the more plainly controversial stuff get stuck on. You need that to show the true nature of the abyss though, and what it does to those who seek it. Because it's not all peachy keen. It's gritty, dark and all about survival at any cost. Humanity isn't important when you need to proceed and survive, sometimes you have to do the unimaginable...

I recommended this Anime to one of my friend. After the first season He say that the anime broke him and there is no way in hell where he would continue. ( read the manga before so I knew that he is not even at the point where the real suffering begin. ) Even somehow Grave of the firefly's where more skaring to me. Probably because i saw that at least 10 year earlier than this. I hop the manga and the anime will continue.

the abyss isnt just hell though its got alot of mystery its clearly man made insane technology in it indistinguishable from magic a force field that forces light further and further down the hole the lift they used to get to the 5th layer is clearly mad made and its connected to what at one point was obviously a city the people who built down there probably had a way to get back up the curse is most likely not absolute there's some kind of equipment that would no doubt be considered a relic at this point that u use to traverse the layers i mean bond did it by hijacking peoples bodies with equipment left behind by the people of the abyss

You could use a few more subscribers. Kevin Penkin can absorb anyone into a show. Hanezeve is what 2st took me i to Made in Abyss, its just lovely. Poor Hield Hero season 2. It never had a chance, which was a total shame after the masterpiece of season 1. Season 3 is good, though! I tried reading Made in Abyss manga (as to not wait for more anime to come out and just read ahead), but it has way too much nudity (kid nudity, specifially) for me to ever go anywhere in it. And by too much, I mean any at all. I'm glad you don't love all the graphicslly naked kids either. Anime for me, all the way! The vlice acting is also astounding.

I agree. I actually tried the exact same thing, and ended up only getting a chapter or two ahead before having to put the manga down in favor of the anime adaptation for pretty much the exact same reason. I look forward to seeing how the anime concludes, but I don't think I'll be reading the manga any time soon.

The original TZ along with Serling had Charles Beaumont, Earl Hamner, and even Ray Bradbury. You have to admit this was a rather high bar to reach. So was the acting. The later series dropped in quality and started to rely on remakes of original episodes. The remake of "A Game of Pool." was clearly inferior to the original episode. I have to say I had no love for Joradan Peale's at all. Too many name references to the original. So many "Whipple" references that you could imagine that the computer complex from the original TZ episode became its own version of Skynet. The series seemed to be an easter egg hunt. Totally lacked Serling's skillful social commentary.
@TheMissingLettr
@TheMissingLettr Месяц назад
I couldn't agree more with this statement. I've been meaning to remake this video or at least drop a post mortem now that the modern series is officially dead and TZ as an IP has returned once again to the void, but who knows if I'll ever get that done. Really, nobody was ever going to match Serling, as talent like that is incredibly rare and those who could do it justice are better off doing their own thing anyway, but I at least expected Jordan Peele to try.

Wonderful video! I rewatched the Wixoss dub soley to get the Diva A Live anime bad taste outta my mouth and partially to celebrate the 10th anniversary. I didn't like it...makes me sad the English releases are associated with that season (that ironically isn't dubbed) instead of the original anime. Would have LOVED English movie decks. 💔

Made in Abyss is something that you sort of have to separate from the author... I've not seen anything from the author himself other than MiA, but have heard he has some... Interests that he injects into the story.
