The Wisconsin Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center (ADRC) provides infrastructure and promotes collaboration for Alzheimer's disease research and scientist training at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. The center also educates research participants and the general public on the latest news and updates concerning Alzheimer’s disease research, care and brain health. Founded in 2009, the Wisconsin ADRC receives funding from private, university, state and national sources, including a National Institutes of Health/National Institute on Aging grant for Alzheimer’s Disease Research Centers (P30-AG062715).
The Wisconsin ADRC produces several educational series about Alzheimer's disease, including the Dementia Matters podcast, the Mind Readers book club, and Healthy Living with Mild Cognitive Impairment (MCI), a support series for people and families living with MCI. It’s exciting that our knowledge appears to be increasing towards the understanding of the pathogenesis of Altzheimer’s disease, and it’s coming from a most unusual source, namely the intestinal microbiome. Faecal Microbiome Transplant has been shown to cure recurring Clostridium Difficile infection for many years. There are two case reports written up in the Medical Literature of patients with C Diff who also serendipitously had Mild Cognitive Impairment, which is rather like early Altzheimer’s disease. They both had FMT for the C Diff, which in both cases cured that condition, and it was shortly afterwards that it was apparent that it had reversed their MCI as well. I’m sure that it would be possible to devise a proof of concept Study in the first instance to see if there is a possibility that FMT is demonstrably beneficial for patients with Altzheimer’s disease, and possibly some other conditions as well…? Or has it already been done…?

Martha Clare Morris, ScD, 1955-2020 Rush pioneer researcher of the connection between diet and Alzheimer’s disease, Martha Clare Morris, ScD, died peacefully following a battle with cancer
My husband first experienced confusion and loss of memory in March of 2000 while undergoing rehab for alcoholism. Being home seemed to help him until 2006 when he gradually began experiencing Alzheimer’s symptoms. He had four to five hours a day where he wants to get a "greyhound" to "go home." Also, he thinks I am his sister and believes he has rented a car (he hasn't driven in five to 10 years). His personal hygiene was in the tank - it was necessary for him to change two to three times a day. Without long-term insurance for his care, it was becoming stressful to care from him. this year our family doctor introduced and started him on Healthherbsclinic Alzheimer’s Disease Herbal Tincture, 6 months into treatment he improved dramatically. At the end of the full treatment course, the disease is totally under control. No case of Alzheimer’s, hallucination, forgetfulness, and other he’s strong again and able to go about daily activities. visit their official website, healthherbsclinic

How does the MIND diet affect ADHD? We do not do well on vegan diets. There is an actual ADHD diet, but I haven't researched it enough to know how it compares to DASH or MIND.

What? The nutrient uptake from food is down to microbes? Never heard this before..... I can imagine that they might be partially responsible. But wholly???
evidence-based and realistic (finally) Recommendations that may slow cognitive decline • Regular physical activity, e.g., brisk walking for 30-45 minutes, 5-6 times per week • Regular mental stimulation, e.g., watching documentaries versus reality TV, reading magazines, learning new information about subjects that interest you • Mediterranean diet or similar diet shown to reduce vascular risk o Foods with benefit: nuts, oils, green leafy vegetables, whole grain, berries, tea, chocolate, fish o Avoid saturated fats (red meat and dairy) and trans fats (commercial foods and baked goods) • Maintaining connection with friends, church, and community activities • Volunteer time for your favorite charity • Stress management techniques, e.g., using a dialectical perspective • Limit intake of sweets and rapidly absorbed sugars • Realistic weight loss to reduce risk of diabetes mellitus and metabolic syndrome • Smoking cessation • Limit alcohol intake to 1 drink per day • Have your doctor check cholesterol and triglycerides, treat hypercholesterolemia • Have blood pressure checked regularly and treat hypertension if nondrug measures do not reduce systolic blood pressure below 150 mmHg • Get professional advice regarding treatment of depression symptoms-sadness, insomnia, inappropriate guilt feelings, low energy, poor concentration, loss of appetite, apathy, suicidal thoughts or plan • Sleep hygiene, 7-8 hours of restful sleep nightly • Get medical attention early for medical problems. Even mild problems like dehydration or severe constipation can cause a rapid decline in memory or thinking. If you have diabetes or another medical problem that is not well controlled by you and your family physician, consider consultation with a specialist • Avoid medications like Benadryl that can cause abrupt decompensation in patients with mild cognitive impairment
The study findings suggest that the MIND diet substantially slows cognitive decline with age. Replication of these findings in a dietary intervention trial would be required to verify its relevance to brain health.
This seems to be the old "fat is bad, red meat is bad" thing that has been preached for decades yet seems to have resulted in and obese nation. Was any testing done with Keto diets?
I'm also curious about the effects of keto on people with memory issues. I feel a lot sharper on it plus the intermittent fasting. However, it will be hard for my mother to follow...
Good video. Actually the isolation of alpha tocopherol was probably the biggest mistake in nutritional history. The following video describes this mistake in detail as well as why it failed as an antioxidant. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-V9zHfSIPdSo.html
