To be honest, I thought Red Dead Redemption was the greatest game I've ever played and played it through about 5 times...but I just could not get into Red Dead Redemption II at all. I couldn't stand any of the characters, I hated the super slow looting and I loathed everyone in your gang. Being tethered to that camp of uninteresting folks really destroyed the immersion the game was trying set up. In RDR after the opening you are allowed to go where ever you want and cut scenes happen when you uncover certain things/missions but in RDR2 it feels like the player is allowed to roam AFTER they are given the cut scenes...like you are watching a movie that you get to interact with every once in awhile. RDR2 Online is slightly better in that aspect but the players online make the experience horrible. I want so bad to love RDR2 like I love RDR but they are two different games and everything I loved about RDR is messed up in RDR2. I bought an XBox One to play RDR2 and even got the steelbook edition because I was such a big fan of RDR and it was like Christmas day, I was so excited to play it but when I got home and started playing it, I felt like instead of getting the coolest toy on the block, I felt like I got socks & underwear with RDR printed on them....I felt so let down. Sure it looked great but OMG is it so freaking boring. I even tried playing it again yesterday..... and fell asleep trying to figure out the game mechanics again... Everyone raves about the story of RDR2 but honestly I really didn't like anyone in the game, even John is a jerk in RDR2 so you don't even like him. People say they love Arthur Morgan but I found him annoying from the start. I mean to me he speaks like a moron and he follows a bunch of dimwits doing dumb stuff, but if you read his journals you would think the guy is a genius with artistic talents unmatched in that world. It doesn't help that once I started playing I realized I have to play an outlaw, I have no other choice...there is one choice, you can be more evil of an outlaw but that is about it...just like GTA. Then I realized when the game wants you to smoke and drink, it is a set up for problems down the line. Of course I know that Morgan dies and then after Arthur dies you get to play as someone else, prob John to tie in RDR because the last two games did that same ending. After you take halfblood to the bar, get drunk and end up in a bar fight...I tapped out, I was done. Up to that moment in the game I wasn't really having fun so I pretty much left it there until yesterday. That is why I am watching your video, I really want to enjoy RDR2...maybe there is something I missed. I really want to experience what you and your friends have with the game, I really do
I think In rd3 you should play as Arthur’s dad and in the epilogue you play as Arthur then Dutch and Hosea train him and it skips a thew years and he is then like rly trained and it’s set before the black water heist
Instead of gun fighting what I loved about the game was hunting and fishing. I love animal diversity will increase significantly in future Rockstar games.
I played Assassins Odyssey for 100+ hours. Then I discovered RDR2... months later I tried going back to Odyssey for 5 minutes but couldn't play further. The RDR2 quality bar has ruined every other RPG I try 😂
Thought I'd help you out buddy mate and give you some synonyms for "Immersive" before the word itself becomes void of all meaning - alluring, anodyne, captivating, enchanting, enticing, entrancing, fascinating, inviting. Easy peasy lad, took all of 5 seconds to search, copy, and paste. I hope to hear you use some of them in future 👍 Alternatively just keep saying "Immersive" and maybe we can make a drinking game out of it.
Alot of people I talk to think the game is overated especially at launch. It is very flawed but I swear to god it is one of THE best video games I have ever played. Probably my 4th favorite
i wish bethesda would be able to create the same quality of games as rockstar does. they spend several years developing their games, but they are still nowhere near rockstar quality. a rockstar fallout game would be my dream.
You said a true thing: Every other (open world) game isn’t fun anymore. This is so true. Not one game is even a bit close to RDR2. This is for me (really) the only game I keep playing. So many times now. Doing other appoaches. For example: survival without weapons or horses. Starting from scratch. So much fun … again and again.
