I’ve officially blocked out how many hours I spent practicing parts from my own memory. Thank god for Bryce for splitting high parts with me, Sara, and all the members of this ensemble. I know I am Euph biased, tubas you rocked too.
I really I matched Jason l at the beginning riff. What a good musician. Whole ensemble killed it. Was a pleasure back then and I’m sure it would be still.
Among the lowest views we have, but among the highest pride I can have for an ensemble. What a piece, what a performance we all gave. It’s such a cool piece.
Martin, there is no way you just listened to me play! UGH! This is years ago and I’m super proud of this performance, even with some errors. I can’t say how Giddy I am to have you comment on something that is Illinois State Related, let alone my “solo.” The piece is fantastic and I hope your performance went well!!!!! - Sam S. ALSO! It wouldn’t have sounded nearly as good if my fellow tuba/euphs didn’t performance so well thanks to Andy Rummel, they really pulled it together for this and he does such a good job!
As an amateur tubist, I once had the sheet music for this just to noodle around with in my practice time. I appreciate the difficulty of this number, and I am glad to finally hear it performed by someone who played it very well.
Euphoniums are unfortunately somewhat overlooked, but i love their mellow, vocal-like sound; together with flugelhorns they might also make probably the best subtitute to cornetts and sacque-boutes in "historically informed" performances on modern instruments.
I can't believe I'm just now seeing this! What a phenomenal performance! Thank you for bringing such wonderful life and sound to my arrangement. I thoroughly enjoyed listening to this job well done. Thank you again!
Thanks for the comment Stephen! It is a really fun arrangement to play. Will Roesch has done some great arrangements for tuba/euph in several combinations. Check out his stuff if you can!
