In Metroidvanias, do you have a list of movements in your head (go right, then top door, then straight, etc.)? Or do you know the rooms and think of which one you need to get to? Just curious how that works.
For the speedrun, I more think about the movements because it's consistent. For the randomizer it's more about what's I can do in this room because that can be different each time. That was a great question
For anyone having trouble pulling this off (I know it is not the most insane tech ever, but still) If you are trying to get through one of the keycard doors then you can power up the lightwall, and then line up the end of Lunaris' front foot with the edge of the card readers pedestal (the side AWAY from the door) and just jump up and release at the right height at the same time you start moving towards the door. This way you don't have to worry about timing the jump so you are at the right height when you are ALSO at the right position. I find this makes it a LOT more consistent for me. So start charging, line up foot with pedestal, jump, release when you have fallen back to the right level (feet at Lunaris' shoulder height) and press towards the door within a few frames of releasing the spell. Obviously you would have to find a different way to mark the right position for the princess' chambers as there is no card reader there.
Just want to point out, Celestial sash jumps work as well as double jumps, at least for the first skip you show here. And thanks for these videos, they helped a lot!
watching Celeste 1st Playthroughs is awesome; seeing people doing the same mistakes as i did back then; acing rooms, i struggled, struggling on rooms i aced; it's a nice nostalgic journey :D
