Another note (in response to what you said around 32 minutes in)- there's a difference between liking small spaces that you are able to get out of if you want to... vs. being trapped in the same small space against your will :P

Yeah there is probably a better term (not sure) for the same idea of "claustrophobia" when it comes to being trapped in larger places but still trapped. Just as an example, I thought the whole premise of the movie "The Truman Show" was really scary lol.

My take on the whole kiss healing her thing, Kennedy kissing her again after she knew all the facts showed she still liked her, as in she was still Willow. It helped Willow forgive herself to be liked by someone else in that moment of grief and self-blame. It helped her complete letting go and thus ended the curse.. at least that is my take on it.

I've heard that Kennedy saying "Well THAT was a hell of a thing!" when she gets teleported, is a reference to Galaxy Quest, where Tony Shalhoub's character says that same thing when the aliens transport him and the other characters onto their spaceship (everyone else is freaked out, but his character thinks it's cool).

A pretty decent episode. Here we see Spike having serious head pains. Buffy is of course very concerned, and we also have to rest of The Scoobies wary now of Giles, thinking that he could have been infiltrated by The First Evil, as we never saw the aftermath of his attack in London. This is of course a Red Herring, as Giles is as normal. The interesting part of course with Willow being turned into Warren and being affected by this, with all the rest of the characters thinking it is Warren as well. Funny part when Andrew grabs Willow, which he thinks is Warren by the breasts, and Buffy punches Warren/Willow, and also when Andrew says 'why cant I come because I used to be evil', no says Xander 'it is because you are really annoying'. Kennedy is being very upfront and overtly sexual with Willow, and many fans did not like Kennedy, as they found her too forward and disruptive in the group. Amy was behind it all, and it is Kennedy who finds her out. Not a bad episode, but much better quality episodes happening in S4 of Angel at the moment.
@Buffy8Fan
@Buffy8Fan День назад
Seems like a lot of reaction viewers have recently done this episode. _Get Buffy because we cannot test a non-coporeal ghost ourselves_ is how I read the initial reactions of the Scoobies seeing Willow as Warren. Afterwords, Xander still choosing disbelief after Buffy punched Willow (until Willow reveals personal information) makes it odd. And even when they do all start believing, Andrew being the one that has to remind them so soon after the Willow as Warren debacle about The First's rule of incoporeal-ness really all shows that without Buffy, Willow, and/or Giles the group have no book or street smart people, and can be dense without any of them. Anthony Stewart Head was told not to touch anything since his arrival with the SIT's at Buffy's house until now, including things like: Buffy being interrupted in trying to hug him, never playing with props, Giles asking other characters to do and get things for him, and Giles not driving in this episode. All these moments, and probably more, all make a great long con fake-out on the viewers. I never had a problem with Kennedy the way the fanbase seemed to, in large part because I remember when said fanbase didn't like Tara due to being Oz's replacement. With only one season left and every episode having the characters worrying about the main arc/apocalypse, there wasn't really time to build up the characters, in a watsonian or doylist way, and the SIT's get the short end of those straws. Willow feels like she's rushing into a relationship with Kennedy, despite the fact that, in-universe, she moved on from Oz to Tara quicker than she moves on from Tara to Kennedy. But because of her emotions, that's what's supposed to be going on. Many fans act at the end of this episode like Willow is in a serious relationship, but she is starting something new. The whole point of the spell is that she felt guilty in liking Kennedy and hadn't delt with issues involving Tara. Kennedy kissing her doesn't mean true love broke the spell. It means Willow made the realization that it was OK to still have Tara always have a place in her heart (just as Oz always will - even if he wasn't her first - and he was) and still like Kennedy.

My favorite seasons are actually 5-6-7. I understand the appeal of lighter themes and such and obviously there are episodes I love in the past seasons too, but I think in s5 it stops being a teenager show, the plots get more serious and heavy and I think relatable to real life (metaphorically).

When Buffy died season 1, Kendra was called. When Kendra died Faith was called. When Faith dies the next slayer will be called. That is the slayer line. Buffy being revived after drowning took her out of the line. That is why no new slayer was called when Buffy died at the end of season 5.

Are you talking about the movie Super 8 in the intro? It kind of does give off that vibe a little bit so I can see where you Would think that. It's about how the children gel as a group and the darkness of what they are dealing with and the fear than the actual plots that makes them feel similar. The Goonies was a heavy influence on this series with how the kids interacted. The creators were big fans. Winona Ryder has worked consistently, but a lot of the stuff leading up to Stranger Things wasn't really on par with the stuff she did when she was young. One or two things would break through, but most was just mediocre. Stranger Things was considered her big comeback. Lois Lane was played by Margot Kidder. I hope the other show you are doing is Teen Wolf or X-Files. Well, mostly Teen Wolf (I know, I'm pushy), but X-Files would be a nice consolation prize.

@@luckyrobinshomestead Margot! That's it! 🤦 And Super 8, yes. I remembered the name during the edit. Yeah, I definitely got Goonies vibes so it's not surprising to hear that. Loved that movie when I was a little kid. It's neither of those shows, unfortunately. I eventually decided I couldn't commit to shows with too many episodes, but I do have 2 reactions to Teen Wolf, which I may end up posting anyway. I'll never say never; I just don't want to officially start something that I know I'll never complete. TBH, I may not complete the shorter shows if the views continue to be so low. If that's the case for _all_ the new shows, there's a good chance I'll retire from reacting. As fun as it is, it takes too much time to justify doing it when I'm reaching so few people. I think your callout to the Goonies is a good one. It does have that 80’s feel. One thing I think it does better than Goonies is that Dustin, the slightly-heavier kid with a speech impediment, isn’t played for laughs. A less skilled writer/creator could easily have done it that way (it certainly was in Goonies), but he’s demonstrably a smart kid and, as you said, was the voice of reason towards the end there. I appreciate it when writers don’t take the obvious route with a character and/or casting. Also: if you didn’t recognize it, the song playing in the background @26:15, which quickly becomes foreground as the whole situation yanks the rug out from under you, is “White Rabbit” by Jefferson Airplane. The song is…appropriate for the scene. :)
@jaypeakay5864
@jaypeakay5864 2 дня назад
@@noahrobin1941 Yeah, I agree about the kids. They seem like well-developed characters for their age, each with distinct personalities (something The Goonies also had, though perhaps more immature and clichéd). At some point, I referred to Dustin as the comic relief (nowhere near Chunk's level, lol), but he's definitely shown himself to be really smart, especially in the most recent episode I filmed a reaction to (E5, I think). The song choice seems appropriate. Haha. 👍

Yeah actually I do not agree with the "moral duty" of being a slayer being totally unpaid, because, think about it: It's still a living human body DOING the slaying. Living human bodies need to EAT. And food costs money. Money is usually earned by getting paid by doing a service. Slaying TAKES AWAY FROM OTHER potential times and opportunities to do other services to earn money. Therefore, slaying SHOULD GET PAID, if anything, to fund the effort. I mean, think about it: Do police officers get paid? YES. DO other public protective services get paid? YES. So, slayers should get paid or their very effort are actually getting hindered.
@sathvamp1
@sathvamp1 4 дня назад
Yeah speaking of "Food like that".... let me know if you have any questions about good nutrition because there are SO many levels and aspects of that. For example there's the "processed vs. whole" component that most people already sort of know about, but then there is also the "certified organic vs. regular" aspect that most people are not aware of, and probably legally varies between countries.
@sathvamp1
@sathvamp1 4 дня назад
Yes quite accurate- ANY "processed" meat has a high probability of being LESS "meat" than you may think. One time I did a "grams of protein per dollar" calculation for frozen (from grocery store) breaded chicken nuggets, and it came out to be LESS than what organic OATS gives you for actual PROTEIN per dollar. So, very pitiful and deceiving!

This is one of my pet peeves, and I cannot believe the actual characters got this wrong in this one (it's annoying enough when it's fans) at this point, the Slayer line runs through Faith. FAITH would have to die for a new Slayer to be called. Not Buffy. This was well-established. When Buffy died the first time, Kendra was called. When she died, Faith was called. When Buffy died again at the end of S5, no new Slayer was called.

Xander's speech to Dawn is one of my favorite moments of the whole series! His yellow crayon moment from season 6 is great, too, and this reminded me of that. We were all a little disappointed that Dawn wasn't one of the potentials, especially when so many of the other potentials were a bit annoying (to me, at least). It felt like Dawn had earned it, but I guess that's actually the opposite of the point of being a potential. They don't earn it. Like Buffy, they get the responsibility pushed onto them and have to prove themselves. BTW, I love season 1, while many fans put it at the bottom of their lists. While there are some clunky episodes, I love the world building in season 1.

An interesting episode with Buffy and Spike giving The Potentials practical training, and eventually locking them in the crypt with a real live Vampire. We see as well Dawn, and the other Scoobies thinking that she is another potential. Of course we are led to believe this, but it in fact Amanda who has the power, and starts to use it. Dawn feels sidelined now, and a brilliant ending scene with Xander and Dawn when he reassures her how important she is to the group. It's really from here that the arc of the show builds towards the finale of the series!

Hmmm... so the way I think about the first evil and the bringers working is somewhat like this: The first evil is literally eternal/omnipresent. Less an entity and more a fundamental part of reality. But reality is really, really, reeeeeally big, not to mention in this lore its not just 1 dimension but rather infinite possibly ones. So honing in one one time/place/person over the entirety of existence and beyond might just be impossible (or really hard), in which case the bringers (priests) are perhaps "focusing points" imo.

10:26 - speaking of how you said "is blue a flavor? Hate to think what's in that"... yes although many drinks do contain such artificial colors (and true, color does not mean "flavor"), there is ONE particular drink that gets its striking blue color from an actually natural source: There is a kombucha drink (Synergy brand I think) that came out with a NEW flavor quite recently (in the USA where I am at least), called "Sacred Life" and it's BRIGHT BLUE (like... SKY-BLUE, not blueberry/purple blue). And especially since that brand does NOT contain any artificial colors, I was SOOO curious about HOW it could be that color blue, so I looked at the ingredients and it uses BLUE SPIRULINA. Apparently it's a type of algae sort of like regular spirulina BUT instead of green, this species is sky-blue. I had NEVER heard of that before seeing that drink! It's not just blue, it tastes amazing... not sure if any of the taste is due to the actual blue spirulina though, since it has coconut water and ginger juice in it which APPARENTLY go AMAZINGLY together :D I was so excited about that drink that I actually looked up the company's email and gave them a rave review, LOL!

Yay Jay!!! You nailed the big bad for this season so early! I did not. 😂 I think when Spike was telling Buffy to kill him because of the atrocities he’s committed he was referring to the many kills in his past, not necessarily the people he had buried in the basement. He actually states those people got off easy compared to his kills in the past. The first wasn’t responsible for all his past kills and now Spike is suffering because he got his soul back and feels the full moral impact of his past as a vampire. Just my take on Spike’s mindset in this episode. There are so many inconsistencies in how the vampire lore is explained/shown in Buffy. At least in my opinion. Angel in particular has so many traits I don’t think fit in well with what we see in other vampires. When Angel loses his soul, he becomes a cruel, murdering and over the top evil big bad. Spike without a soul on the other hand was handled completely differently. He’s a blustering and most of the time comically incompetent big bad who truly cares for certain people in his life (Drusilla for example). I never could reconcile those inconsistencies in my mind. I tend to think Whedon got pushed into keeping Spike around which threw a big wrench into the rules for vampires already established. As for demons, I’ve never even tried to figure that out. Clem (Spike’s friend with droopy skin) is definitely a sweet guy according to all the evidence we see. Yet, demons are presented as pretty universally evil in other cases. I just roll with it and try not to think about it too hard. 🙄🤣😅
