Hi All, This channel is dedicated to all types of vintage audio.
If you have any old vintage audio that you no longer require I would gratefully accept it and would feature on my channel, I would pay all postage costs naturally. Plus a big thank you to all new subscribers to my channel. Also if you would like to donate to my Vintage Audio Channel fund so I can buy spare parts to finish all my projects I would be most grateful, link below. Thank you. x
Please Note: All my singing is now on the channel link below. Please subscribe, thank you.
I've really been enjoying your restoration journey! I was recently gifted a Revox A77 with the same aluminium faceplate and metal tape head cover - is it an aftermarket upgrade? Or indeed, a special edition?. I have had to iron out new issues and enjoy learning from your video journals.
This was one of the earlier models, it dates back to 1998. The later models from about 2000 onwards have drive belts to control the load and eject mechanisms.
Nice work Harvey, looks delicious. They can be so delicate and so easy to snap something. Usually right at thd end. I do like the tap test, very smart 😊
Hiya Harvey, hope you're ok. Watched a few minutes of Vintage Electronics Despair earlier. I read that you're waiting for a NAD power amp.. I had one in the 80's with the matching preamp too.. I saw you got told off by geeks in the chat !.. You should block yourself ASAP lol..
@@harveysvintageaudio Hiya Harvey, that's ok mate. I thought you had received a smashed up NAD package and wasn't in the mood to talk about it lol. Hope you're ok btw..
No it's all cool, i'll try and get around and show you all the NAD 216 THX Power amp I bought, it's been feeling so tired after having Covid. It arrived extremely well packed as you probably know it's a very heavy amp.
I'm a bit late to the party, but i just bought a near mint one of these off the bay for 85 quid and the vu meter light works one day and the next day its dead.
Be careful with the little case screws on these players, you must only use the correct length of screws, if you lose one, or if there's any missing, you mustn't use a longer one in the position nearest to the preamplifier circuit board as a longer screw would break the circuit board and possibly write it off, so be warned, just in case anyone's watching this who doesn't know or hasn't noticed etc.
The solenoid on these players can get sticky inside which can cause the player to fail to change program as it then doesn't manage to rotate the stepper cam properly so it stays on the same program and plays it again, so it needs it's plunger cleaning as well as the inside of the solenoid itself.
Good effort Harvey, to get it fixed sooner you should have beaten the tone arm with a pair of rusty old pliers like Andy did to the SP25 he's just scratched up lol..
Collaro decks - don’t go in without a manual ! They aren’t that bad but they are not the same as BSR or Garrard. They were sold to Magnavox in the end and the Americans used them ….
Don't forget to check out my version of "Devil In Diguise" Elvis cover, missed a chorus, oh well, lol. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-0TfbVuByl-g.html
Hiya Harvey, that tuner looks in great cosmetic condition. I sold my 4020B last year for around £45 I think.. I did well cos the AM side had stopped working...
This unit is in better condition than the first one that I paid £29 for, lol. This one was in fact £15 including delivery, not £14, still very cheap though, lol. You did do well with yours, lol.
Hey Harvey!! Nice to see you are still around! 😁 Hope life is treating you well! Interesting video! I am electronically disabled..lol. Interesting just the same though. 😉 Summer has been beastly hot here in upper Minnesota as well. Near 90+ for the past few weeks. A little reprieve this week! High 70s-low 80s. Take care! 😊🥰
Hiya gorgeous, yep still here, decided to get out of all the drama, too much for me to handle, lol. It's only just warmed up here recently, July was cold and a complete washout, lol. Thanks for watching and hope to see you here again even though as you said electronics is really not your thing, lol. xx ps. Don't forget my singing channel, lol. xx www.youtube.com/@harveysingsforyou4640
Where I obtained spare screws from on Ebay: www.ebay.co.uk/itm/233207608389?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=c2fDk4l7SOu&sssrc=2047675&ssuid=RKT664ytTxy&var=532706762928&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY
hi they say they are pro i find they have watched alot of youtube video's i can tell the pro's have big holes in there know how because there's no info on youtube i work on deck's my self and i get all my cap's from RS if i am in a hurry far east you have to wait along time note to reseller of caps i 100% know where you get you caps from big bags of 100 in each been there or a 1000 at a time
RS used to be walking distance from my house, it was great, now they have moved from East to South London, what a pain ! I will now have to buy all my caps from Ali Express.
Running well, I would leave the Opamps in yeah the new ones perform better but not perceivable to the human ear. Typical Philips construction with a decent PSU I doubt an external PSU would improve things.
The Mission has the superior swing arm laser and the unit is basically a Philips, these last forever usually if they fail it is a cap on the servo board. Not very high-end but decent .
Yep, correct ! I have been doing a bit of research on it and think I even have two spare Philips laser assemblies for it as I fixed a failed laser unit ? on a B&O unit the type with the horizontal sliding glass doors. I kept the old unit in case it wasn't the actual laser itself.
.....and Harvey, when you take that board out then so check for dry "bones", joints..tee-hee, for you never know, for even the best Audio manufacturers never ever got it 100% on their solder joints.
Wel, this unit must be 20 years old now and you know what Paul says about those caps when they go beyond 20 years"?". I suppose that having to change that faulty cap would be the ideal time now to change them all. The latter, yes, if you wish to remortgage your house, Harvey..lol. Some reviewers state that this CD's response is flat on pop and jazz music, ah, but what amp were they running the CD player through ?????????
