This is a pop band…not the Grateful Dead. Read a book and check the numbers. I have always loved the blonde girl…but there isn’t a Jerry Garcia amongst them. It's so funny to see Bette Midler interviewed by the wonderful Dame Joanna Lumley! I have ALWAYS wanted Bette Midler & Barbra Streisand to do an American 'version' of 'Absolutely Fabulous' with Midler as Edina and Streisand as Patsy. Now, I know they've never worked together (and I don't know if they like each other) but I think the two of them together would be BRILLIANT!
Awesome video. Thank you so much for posting it. I've loved Bette since the mid-seventies. I've loved Joanna Lumley since she played Marjorie Majors on "Shirley Valentine" and, of course, enjoyed Patsy Stone along with the rest of the world. I have her so high on a pedestal that it's odd for me to see her fawning over anyone but I suppose ... it is Bette, after all.
Obviously this was made awhile ago. One of the last lines, there will need to be an ABBA reunion. But after 40 years, ABBA made a new album Voyage. I'm going to see ABBA the music in july. I feel like I'm going to see them. The shows are that good.
Being young in Scandinavia, Norway, during this period, I heard them all day long, and I must admit I got fed up with them, even though I could enjoy hearing them in moderate amounts. I also remember having heard many of the songs in Swedish that the individuals had performed before they became ABBA, without knowing who song them. But the clarity of voice in their songs, is due to them pronouncing English like it were Swedish or Norwegian. ABBA might not appear politically correct outside Scandinavia. but from a Scandinavian perspective, they were extremely politically correct.
April 2024 - Just got back from seeing his show (The House of JOJO) at the Palladium in London with his number one fan and my friend (Elaine). The emotions and joy I felt while watching the show and the lasting impression he has left on me (and Elaine) is priceless. He is a formidable strong and loving force of his own and is inspirational. After the show I bumped into him in Soho. He gave me a hug and a kiss and he was kind enough to let me make a mini fun video of our accidental encounter. He shines bright and makes the world a better place. What a great guy. Love him.

I remember watching this when it was first aired on TV and luckily taped it and watched it repeatedly for years. Well it’s safe to say I lost that tape and have only just saw this years later!!! Yeah, I'll never forgot that double live album she put out some time ago. And she was saying: I was in bed last night with my boyfriend Ernie, and he says to me "Soph...." (He always called me Soph ....) He says "Soph, you've got not its and a tight box!" So I said to him "Ernie, get OFF MY BACK!!!" Always put a big ol' smile on me face, that one did..... That's how music sounds when the performer can actually sing. No hiding behind HUGE microphones to hide the fact that she's lip-synching and no autotune. Just a wonderfully beautiful voice! Way to go, Dolly. You make those of us in Tennessee proud that you are one of us!
