Thanks for the video, I have the same problem on a Kohler Courage Pro 25hp, ring gear is cracked and missing 2 teeth! They use crappy, cheap Chinese steel, why isn't the ring gear welded on? Stupid idiot engineers!
Thank you for this eye opening video as I’m in nz and the cost of a whole flywheel is 1200 dollars can’t buy ring gear here but got one off eBay this morning I used a punch to get the ring gear off 😊. Vince
Rose, Mine was already broken. You may be able to split the gear with a chisel and large hammer. Or remove the flywheel, flip it over and then use a cutoff wheel on an angle grinder to cut through it. Good luck, Steve
Hello Stephen thank you for the video. i have a similar issue with a JD x300 that i've had for 12 years. It's fine when cold but intermittently will not engage when hot, although if i turn the engine off and back on again, it will engage? Would you consider this an air gap issue? Many thanks
Possibly-my recommendation would be to check the gaps with a feeler gauge. You may be able to do this without taking the clutch/brake off the engine, I'm not sure. Or you could just try turning each nut in about 1/3 turn and see if that makes a difference. Good luck
Note that your battery voltage goes up for a short time right after starting as the alternator is trying to make up for the charge used by the starter motor. This may cause just enough of a voltage rise to overcome the larger air gap in the clutch.
On 2004 Yukon there is a ground wire behind driver side rear tire that goes from the chassis to up near the gas filler cap area. If it is broke rear blinkers wont work along with other strange electrical problems.
I have a 2016 gmc sierra sle i have this code U0077 i have aftermarket light everything was working fine for the past 2 years with the LED lights yesterday i have a Right Rear Turn Failure could this fix my issues i try cleaning the ground when the truck is on everything is perfect except turning right and my break
Thank you Stephen, I am very grateful for the effort you have made to make this video, this helping people like me. I no longer have to wait for my mower to cool down! You fixed my mower! Thanks again.
Great video ! That really stinks that Kohler wont sell just the ring gear. Good thing for Vogel MFG, but I think they are out of stock as I type this. Hope they can manufacture some more ! 👨🔧
The installation instructions which came with my replacement clutch were very specific to **not** use an impact wrench to tighten the bolt. Use a torque wrench. In the case of my clutch, torque the bolt to 55 ft-lbs. Yours may vary (check your service manual.)
Same problem: I rode my tractor up a ramp and reached under and just tried the 1/4 turn on all 3 nuts and is working like a charm. Took 10 minutes and did not have to take anything apart - praise the Lord! Thanks for the video!
@@wyattrosner3895 I have mowed at least 6-7 times since I made the adjustment without any issues. Thankful! BTW - If I had the feeler gauges, I believe I could have used them since everything was "right there".
Glad I found your video. Seen it after ordering the flywheel for $442.00. Called Vogel Manufacturing to confirm theirs was the right one. Canceled the flywheel order! While I was counting the teeth I discovered 2 more spots with missing teeth! Apparently the original ring gear was made from some kind of crappy material..Comforting to know the next one is good quality. THANK YOU FROM SASKATCHEWAN, CANADA.!
Is it working OK for you sill? I may order one but wonder about reliability. My mower is down till I fix this! Thank you for posting this video, it really helped! I did order one.
Did you just lift up the front end of your tractor and set it on its rear? If so, did you strap it so it does not fall forward on you? Question: Is it possible to reach and turn it a 1/4 turn on each bolt without taking it apart? Meaning you could reach the bolts without removing the deck. May be a stupid question, but I have multiple level disc issues and this type of thing can be real painful.
Exactly what my Cub Cadet is doing and still does. Took to shop and they said it was the air gap and it worked for 2 mowings afterward and now it quits working after 30 minutes (when hot). Then let it sit for 15 minutes and it works again.
The right turn signal in my 2003 Suburban reliably works but the left turn signal only works sometimes. Sometimes I need to turn the left signal on and off 3 times before they work, sometimes it takes more than that. Also sometimes I need to turn the steering wheel (at a stop at an intersection) a good bit to the left before they will work and stay flashing.
Excellent video. Just bought a used crafstman dyt4000 first time I used it today blades worked for about 10 minutes and shut off. After watching, tightened all three nuts one turn and did the whole lawn with no problems. Blades cycle on and off hot! Thank you very much!
Just changed the ignition switch on my 2001 Chevy 2500HD Silverado and now my turn signals work when they feel like it. (started one week after) Thanks for the excellent video, in spite of your camera.
I accidentally was messing with the ground of the signal light plug with a metal picking tool while the turn signal was on and forgot to turn it off before all of that. Now it won't blink or flash. Did I static shocked and burnt the turn signal relay?
What if pto disengages it self after about 15 minutes of use and then will work again when it cools down? When the PTO does disengage it self there is no power too it. Ohms test of PTO reads 3.6
