I have been playing for over 20 years and the one thing I still can’t do is butterfly push using my right leg as the push leg. When I push with my left leg, it’s no problem, however I go nowhere with my right leg. It’s so frustrating, does anyone have any tips on how to fix it? My left side is my domintant side, I’m a lefty but I play goalie righty - it’s how I picked up my first glove and blocker so it’s natural to me
How do they get to those pucks that go by their head like that? I have an 8 year old that is doing goalie this year and I know very little about hockey and now that he is goalie I have to start over on learning for helping him but I'm at a loss for this one except to get taller 😂
Not going to lie this is the part of my game I need to work on the most everything else is fine for my level apart from my pick handling wrong way from skating
The overlap is not a new concept.Glenn Hall used this technique in the 50s and 60s..As a goalkeeper who's played since the 70s,I am glad to see shortside technique being addressed.Way too many bad shortside goals. If the D is forcing shooters to the circles or bad angles it's the goalies duty to make that save.Thats the logic of team defence. The RVH is fine from behind the goal line or wrap around but it's overused. As a goalie coach myself,I don't teach overlap,We rejected it in the 70s because it would require a second move at some point to adjust.Establishing a position where movement is kept at a minimum is key to great goaltending. One of my old coaches used to tell me if you're moving you're losing.Nevertheless,I commend you for attempting to break the RVH addiction!...If I was a D man and I forced a shooter to a bad angle only to see the puck go in high shortside,I might fire a few ear bombs at him next practice!...Good job, hopefully we will start seeing coaches teaching the art of angle play. Its amazing to see so many high level goalers who have no idea how to position themselves so a shooter breaks his own angle down.Old school technique, that works regardless of save selection....cheers..
These details are great for us coaches who don’t have any goaltending background but want to offer our goalies the same attention to detail we give our skaters.
Lectric Shave.. used on my kids' pads.. WILL take color off, so test first for pressure, etc. on lettering and stripes, but on white, apply to microfiber rag and wipe away! Apparently, magic eraser scrapes them up and takes a layer of material off because of how abrasive (hence why puck marks disappear).
Amazing job as coach, you bring so much fun and joy on the ice but the kid dont look to have fun, simply need to be perfect... Sad to see kid dont have fun in sport... Amazing video tho thanks for the share
I was skipping the top hole in my skates to get more flex, I watched your video and decided compare your method to how I was lacing my skates. I can confirm my heel would raise slightly as I flexed forward. Using the Wapple lacing technique my heel stayed didn't move!
