Looking back for Louis today, is this his only visit today? I hope he is ok. Dorcha left at 19.40 > 20.10 , thought maybe she had gone fishing. Probably looking for Louis.
She knows exactly where Louis is - he’s perched on a nearby tree in plain view! To her anyway, it’s out of cam sight as the tree is behind the nest. However, our watcher who lives nearby can see the nest through her telescope and has been reporting on him all day. He doesn’t seem to be injured, just not going fishing which is unusual. But last time he ‘took a day off’ he roared in the next morning with four fish in under 26 minutes. Let’s see what happens this time.
Oh that is hilarious @Geemeff! 🤣😂🤣 ...and so perfectly edited to perfect choice of music. Very clever and I have now saved the link. Very talented Seattle Youth Symphony.
They are very talented indeed. In fact, the Seattle Youth Symphony might like to know I've received a copyright strike from youtube because the prestigious Halle Orchestra are claiming it as their performance! 😃
I thought he might, but no. And today 26th, he's only brought the remnant of his mid-morning meal which didn't last long with two nearly full-grown chicks plus Dorcha, and is sitting perched nearby with Dorcha telling him off.
17.17.01 - 17.25.29 Dorcha decides to move sticks around, and the chicks have to get out of her way. Set to The Carnival of the Animals - Personages with long ears by Camille Saint-Saëns, performed by the Seattle Youth Symphony and reproduced here with many thanks under creative commons copyright-free performances. The expressions on those babies' faces, 'Mum what on earth are you doing you pretty much sat on both of us & almost knocked us off the nest with that awful stick'. Then Dorcha's face when it fell off!!
I wonder what happened to the female he flew off with earlier in the season. Perhaps he was ousted from the other nest. It's good to see him back again though, I've grown very fond of him.
That’s Dorcha’s fish call, she uses it when she sees Louis nearby eating a fish. She demands that he bring it over to her immediately and you’ll notice her calls get louder and louder until he arrives with it. There are some trees behind the nest, hidden from the camera, where he likes to eat - she can see him, we can’t. She doesn’t fish-call unless she can see him. Louis knows where the nest is - he finds it by himself when he returns home from migration after an absence of seven months.
I caught up on Geemeff's videos of this osprey 🪶 and my heart goes out to the littlest girl 😭 I wish the littlest Bob the best over the rainbow bridge 🌈 her siblings have grown so much!
