A 6th grade beginning band. Absolutely amazing for that level I know that when they go on 7th and 8th, they’ll be even better

AND.....DON'T EVER slam your instrument down hard. Not never, ever. Regardless of what it is you play. That isn't towards the awesome teacher, it was towards the students.

How do you teach the warmups? Do you have written material or any books you use to get them to this point where you have a routine and they can fluently make it through the warmup consistenly.

What middle school is this, This is a great teaching style, teaching them the basics and really making it clear, motivating them to practice and become amazing musicians. If I ever become a band director I’m looking at this video immediately to help guide.

I'd love to know what your first lesson of the year looks like, you can really tell they know ready position and how to share out appropriately, that takes time to build!

This is just what I need. Starting a band program on my 27th year of teaching. Although I interned in a Middle school in 1994, I'm a guitar player and was never part of band growing up. We recently got a brand new state of the art building for music and Art complete with top of the line equipment, truly a dream come true. I'm now in the process of immersing myself in the " Band World" and will go all the way to ensure my students become the best band in our area. Of course I'm aware I cant do it alone so I'm trying to create a team of willing and able educators and volunteers in my area down in South Dade County. Any suggestions are welcome. I feel this video has so much to offer me, I will study it and apply these concepts many of which I presently apply in my music classroom. I love it, as I said Just what I need

1. I love a music teacher that emphasizes a metronome, breathe and scales. You will never go wrong if you have those three in placce.

I watched this is part of my teaching observations, and while there's so much you did amazing on, I have to applaud you for how well you kept your lesson moving at a pace that your students didn't seem overwhelmed with and still keeping them engaged. That's such an amazing skill! Keep on going and God Bless you!

I can't imagine any of these kids would go into private lessons saying the all-too-common (after a few months or years of playing): "I don't know what a key or time signature is, don't know what any of the terms on the page mean, and have never played with a metronome." She's setting up them up BEAUTIFULLY from the beginning to know their basics thoroughly. KUDOS TO HER!!!
