Hillenberg was actually aware of the Kamp Koral spin-off in its early development, but I do believe he wouldn’t approve of the spin-off even then. Besides the spin-offs, many newer episodes seem to lack narrative or cohesion nowadays.

6 years ago we lost Stephen Hillenberg from ALS. SpongeBob never needed spin offs in 2021-24. SpongeBob didn’t needed be out of the wate, the animation of season 12-14(2018-24) with only 2 fantastic episodes the Tidal Wave special and The Salty Sponge. S4-11 has some here and there fsntastic episodes. Seasons 1-3 almost ever episode is just spectacle and fsntastic including the 2004 Movie that was on VHS/DCD in 2005. I think SpongeBob has gone 100% downhill since after its 20th birthday blowout. It just sucks we are only getting sequels of classic episodes for SpongeBob’s 25th anniversary. Also an announcement for a new movie with Derek Dryman and new series from Mr Lawerence AKA Filbert the Turtle from Rocko,Mr Plankton and Larry the Lobster also thr chocolate guy from SpongeBob, and Edward and Pong Pong from Camp Lazlo as well for the silver anniversary of SpongeBob. Plus a 4K BluRay or the original SPB The Movie for SpongeBob the Mkvie’s 20th anniversary. Possibly 15 years late after the BluRay edition in 2008/10 and SpongeBob Oreos. 20 years since the SpongeBob cereal and Dunkaroos and fruit snacks(Betty Crocker) and SpongeBob KD/Ktsft Mac & Chers. I think there are also SpongeBob cheese stings as much as the popsicle/ice lolly and Halloween Krabby Patties and VDay cards,toys,Ganes,stuff ankmals,VG for several consoles, and BK promotions/McDonald’s promotion. SpongeBob Monopoly and Playdough. SpongeBob was huge in the aughts/noughties. Much as The Lion Kkng in the nineties and Frozen in the tens/tenties.
I didn't think season 6, 7 or 8 was that bad it still had some good content to it! I think it was season 11 when the show started falling out for me, Yes season 11 had good episodes but not only are it's animation over the top now but it started making Spongebob look like a casual kids cartoon that parents assumed Spongebob always was Remember when Squidward still cared about Spongebob despite being annoying by him? Yeah that's gone. How about Mr Krabs? He's just a straight up villain I mean he was ok with Plankton self hurtting himself and he attempted to kill Squidward for money and so on so fourth even when Steve came back Mr Krabs was still evil You know what's sad about the Mr Krabs part? Spongebob did everything for Mr Krabs he even died for him and look at how he turned out! My best way of dealing with this is just pretending like the awful Spongebob isn't canon to the Spongebob we all knew and loved Like Toy Story they're milking the cow so hard it's not worth it anymore, Just let the little guy go he had a good run he lasted 25 years it's time for different anim- Oh wait Nicks new shows suck too like Load House and others Just air reruns I doubt people would mind if they saw the same episodes over and over if it's the sea friend we all knew and loved
Mr. Krabs was evil in pre-movie, he sold SpongeBob's soul for 62 cents. If Nick wants to squeeze the Sponge dry without coming off as soulless, then what we need is fresh new dynamics on the old characters. Here's a new character I've come up with, meet Pakners, a Jewish fish with a large circular ball shaped flaccid head. He's a new rival that subverts the usual Krabs vs. Plankton story. He offers exotic foods made with his own secret formula that makes people's mouths burn and wants to set a business partnership at the cost of Mr. Krab's autonomy. Unlike Krabs, he isn't cheap and offers good work conditions but SpongeBob and Squidward must oppose the take over.

How many times do I have to tell people who are denying this… Stephen Hillenburg NEVER said that he didn’t want spin offs. He didn’t see them happening. Both the show’s current showrunner Vincent Waller and the voice of SpongeBob Tom Kenny have already confirmed this. And if you insufferable folks are gonna bring up “Well, Paul Tibbit said that Stephen would never want a spin off”, let me elaborate that prior to his death, Stephen Hillenburg came back into working on SpongeBob after the 2nd SpongeBob movie. Paul Tibbit (Who had been the showrunner of the main series from 2005 to 2015 left the main show’s staff after the release of Sponge Out of the Water. So he wasn’t aware that Stephen approved Kamp Koral. Heck, if you’re still gonna believe that Stephen Hillenburg never wanted spin offs… let me remind you that he didn’t want to make the first SpongeBob movie at first until he saw The Iron Giant and the original Toy Story. So if he could change his mind on making a SpongeBob movie, then surely he would’ve changed his mind in approving a spin off show. Every living human being wouldn’t stick to their morals beliefs, decisions, whatever you call it, because this is the REAL WORLD! I swear… you Hillenburg elitists are disrespecting a nice human being you’re defending then the current staff who’s working on the show! Or heck, even Nickelodeon!
