I remember riding that track in the late 80's. It was more of a single track back then. The step at the end was nowhere near as bad as it is now. The main challenge was keeping enough momentum to get up that bit at the end. Great memories - a lot of the tracks we loved no longer exist and many others are locked.
Hey love the video. How many leafs did you remove out of the factory leaf pack to achieve 3 inch lift and what length brake line extenders did u require. Cheers
That rock step on the way out that veers right the one at 11.45 mark, on our way out I got up but a range rover that was with us blew his rear diff centre, we only went to that point and did a uturn and just broke it right there had to use a jimny to winch it up 😂😂
Hahaha.... We made front & rear leaf sprung 47series LandCruisers super flex 45years ago, 12"frt/14"rears. Used the same principle as we did in the CJ Jeeps. I like the way you've done it❤
Hey man, my diff builder in Sydney recommended against Nitro gears when i grenaded my front diff. He preferred factory gears with solid spacer as he reckons Nitro are too brittle
Spring pack on top of the axle, same as Hi-lux. What Toyota should have done. But then, dudes keep buying the crap that comes out of factory without question, simply because it's a ýota. Wheel drop or droop is over-rated - when a wheel is at max droop or near to it, it does not have any ground pressure to grip the ground anyway. Might look impressive, but does little to propel the car because it just cannot bite the ground without down pressure which is a function of vehicle mass/gravity. But where your modification works is the raised spring plate height which removes the factory in-built ground anchor. Something I did to my 1985 MK Patrol 40 odd years ago!
Another solid video, Just straight to the point with everything! We released a portable jump starter. Can we invite you to do a review? We have emailed for an inquiry.
Yea engineering leaf under axles to over axles i always thought was a gray area for engineering. Everyone always says it can't be engineered any more. Would love to know. Have you ever thought about superior drop shackles for shits and giggles
@@Grouse4x4 after playing with 75 series leafs for comfort and vs flex for years, then moving into 79series when they started coming out with the 6cyls and now the v8 ones and a few 80 series in-between you can most definitely get leafs to flex amazing but they never have the comfort of coils.
I was thinking of doing EXACLY THIS under my Series 3 L/R . I got told it was not Legal . I'm NSW based . Is it Legal on your vehicle as done there ? Can it be done and still " Comply " with the Regulatory requirements ?
Did well to get the rear height to match up nicely. I don’t drive a 70 series other than for work but nice to see such a simple but functional setup good stuff mate 🍻👌🏽
Can you tell me who the guy in Victoria is that you mentioned is doing some sort of kit? I am getting my mechanic to do this to my 79 Cruiser. I have seen comments that say that it is a hand full on the highway with pitch and roll etc - is this true? Will a detachable sway bar in the rear fix this? How does it go with a 150kg ball weight (towing) and say 100kg in the tray added to it? Would it be possible to fit small airbags?
@@JasonJason-k6e lrg fab I believe it is, ours handles pretty well on road. If you put a sway bar in the rear it should work the same, 80 series sway bars work perfect on and offroad and don’t need to be detached. I towed a 2t work trailer with this setup and I found it to be okay. I can’t comment on airbags as I haven’t tried
awesome rig mate! just wondering tho, would it still work just as good with a 76 wagon with the shorter leaf packs? also mine is a jmacx diff housing, still be all good with this setup?
@@chriscampbell4796 I had a 2 inch lift in there before hand and measured the heights, once you go back to stock leaf springs and allow them to sit flat rather then arched it lowers the lift height down to roughly 3 inches
