Man! It was this video that made me fall in love with the white Vinnie Colaiuta gretsch signature series in 2004. 3 years later, 07/11/2007 Guitar Center calls me up to pick up my Drum set!
I used to be a real Bruford fan, but watching any interviews he does, there's only so much unbearable smugness I can take. But this is fine - he swings and doesn't overplay like some of the BFB participants.
Just saw Ringo and his all stars last night and being a drummer and a huge Greg Bissonette fan I pretty much just stared at Greg for 2 1/2 hours. What a treat and after the show my wife said “that drummer you love so much worked harder than anyone in the band”. I told her “I know, that’s drums and that’s Greg Bissonette.
Bill is one of my heroes behind the kit, master of all genres, he plays a piece as it should been played no matter wichkinda music it was Absolutely perfect.
He did not know how to celebrate at the end. He looked like he was going to stand up and throw his sticks to the audience then realized it's Jazz. Light snare work, he was not dropping or bouncing the stick he was lightly touching the skin with every hit. Light enough to practice at 3AM with your parents sleeping in the next room.
Nicely done! Swung the crap out of it, without excess, which allowed more of the band's nuanced playing to shine. Kicks and fills were tight and a good fit. I liked the greater use of the kick drum for accents with the band.
