What a lousy take on this one. Ohio State’s QB left, and obviously they needed help and depth there. What would any team do? Judkins reached out to Ohio State. They did not approach him initially. O’Brian’s ideal circumstance was to be at home in Boston, where his kid can get the specialized medical care he needs. Day and Chip Kelly are long time friends, and the timing worked out. I don’t remember these same concerns expressed for any other team. And the truth is, to win it all, it’s a longer season this year. You better have depth, rest some starters once in a while, and it might even be worth it to risk an early or midseason L to keep healthy.
You act like buying players is new. It's been going on for decades. Just now it's public. Why yall make such a big deal over literally nothing? Yet teams cheat and we give them a pass and shower them in gold. Lol.
"WU TIDE!" 🙌 I personally don't think it will work. This is NOT the NFL. Even though players are getting paid now, it's still 18-22 yr olds who are still learning. It's called professional for a reason. I think all this does is swell the heads of those young kids up so massive that we gonna see problems, one after the other. If I'm wrong? I can accept that. #RollTide #WuTang
As a ]V[ fan, I'm contractually obligated to hate all things Ohio. As a somewhat *older* ]V[ fan, I have to remember that there's an entire generation of Buckeye faithful who have never experienced Michigan being the dominant team in the rivalry, EVER IN THEIR LIVES. My thoughts on whether the Buckeyes should spend a bajillionty dollars on building a team? Hell yes, go for it. I mean, I hope it doesn't work, but Ryan Day and crew absolutely cannot drop The Game again, especially not in the Shoe. They gotta do whatever it takes. I mean... part of me wishes they WEREN'T doing everything they could, 'cuz the Cooper years were a great time to be a Wolverine. But beating the Buckeyes when they're coming with everything they've got? That's just *chef's kiss*
All this, at all schools including Georgia and Alabama, cannot end well for anyone - the players both on the field, off the field and in their future lives, other students at the Universities, coaches, and the fans. The first thing that will happen is ticket and cable tv prices will dramatically go up. It’s sad. There is just too much money in College football.
Bad coaching can't buy a championship. Day was a made 50 yard FG from beating '22 UGA and playing that TCU team for the title. So they got the coaching good enough to win it. Yes I think they'll be a favorite.
Coach Saban said that NIL would make a mess of things. As for the "Vegas experience," if you are not quite up for that, can you get the Starkvegas experience instead? 😁
As a fan of a competitive, rising small school, its my hope this thought of buying talent falls completely flat on its face. I think it will. Otherwise, G5 and even smaller P5 conference schools will never have an opportunity to be truly competitive on a national stage.

But you also need to show how much BAMA and other elite SEC teams are spending on NIL and coaches. I know Texas and Georgia are up there and I'm sure Alabama isn't a wallflower. Alabama is known to spend big on facilities and a ton of analyst coaches. You seem hypocritical without a relative comparison. And we know if it does work Alabama will be upping their payroll as well.
6 months late, but man as a diehard Michigan fan, watching with my die hard Bama brother, i was on the edge of my seat the whole game almost praying for the win. I truly believe that if we hadnt faced each other in 2020. I believe yall wouldve won.
Sabin retired so Bama most likely will have a down year (for them) so if Bama don't win and Ohio State or another team does it means they bought it, right? Your better than that, just say Bama won't be an automatic top 3 every year anymore. It's okay now you'll know how the rest of us feel.
Give it time. Dynasties don't just disappear, takes rebuilding like anything else. You will see the Tide back on top with the new coach or without him. Bama will not just disappear as many would love them to.
@@ramtough4384 I know what you're saying but the point of the video is money wins, not every game every time of course. It's true money wins that's why the top 10 programs are constantly top 10 programs, but with the amount of money involved now days it might shrink to the top 5 programs. Either one is bad for the sport. Expanding the playoff to 12 will make more money but the same 4-5 teams will still win it.
@briangulley6027 You got into a dark point, that actually may make me quit watching college football. I loved the history, the fight, the traditions. Once money comes into play, it's no different than the WOKE NFL. I loved the players, who played under a coach that they believed in, a school name, that was their shield. Now, it's about money, and I know why Coach Saben left. I just pray, that with NIL money, these kids pay their own tuitions. If you're not doing it for the school or the legacy, pay your own tuition.
the wolverines unleashed the beast. they got the buckeyes angry, and it’s time to fight. i don’t think they’re truly buying a team… they are shoring up holes. there’s a lot of guys that stuck around that would’ve been high nfl draft picks (9 returning starters on a great defense last year). another year of development on the o-line, which is critical because we saw how they did against mizzou. mclaughlin should be a better center too, hopefully he can handle his snaps better. the weapons are elite. the best backfield in the country and ohio state is elite at developing WRs, the next big one is coming in jeremiah smith. judkins coming in gives an elite compliment to henderson, who’s dealt with injuries over the years. but the big thing comes with coaching. chip kelly is day’s biggest mentor, kelly was the coach when day was playing QB at new hampshire. so kelly will help day with a lot of the day to day coaching stuff, and he’s trustworthy with handling playcalling. day really needed to give up playcalling.
Buckeyes always think they are elite and typically own the Big10. I hope (with zero caps) college doesn't turn into a spending frenzy for results. Would love nothing more to see a 6-6 season for them dropping this much money.
As a Buckeye alum I would like to point out that the athletics department has always fired head coaches if there are three straight losses to Michigan. I'm pretty sure this is Coach Day gaslighting them saying it's a resource issue in order to avoid being fired. If they lose to Michigan again next year he will be out of a job. I hate the Suckeyes, but the band is fire.
This is 9 years without a nc comming up 4 day, he's spending a lot of money definitely gambleing with his job & when day doesn't produce what ohio state wants then he's gone, after he spent 41 million dollars on players & coaches to choke again 🤔
This whole program is gonna blow up after their next loss to Michigan and early exit from the playoffs. Will Howard isn't a top 15 QB... And from what I've seen, you can't fix "soft". What makes you think the same D-line and O-line, that gets bullied by Michigan each of the last 3 years is gonna magically change things this year?
No & i'll tell you why the last time ohio was in playoffs they lost to uga it was close come down to a fg, then day had a good team last year & loss to mich , it's not like days not had very good teams but somehow he finds a way to 💩 the bed, i don't care how much money you spend this is football anything can happen in this sport on a sat & also it's championship or bust 4 day he's won nothing since 2015 after urban left, he has to win there's no other optiion he loses again day could get fired prob will, ohio state fans was asking him to step down, just imagine when day loses how the fans will react after spending millions to produce nothing again funny maine. 0:53
I agree with the other guy that mentioned NIL. You and so many others support NIL so what do people expect. You say they are buying a championship but don’t want to disrespect which is exactly what that comment is. Many programs are dumping big money into this new environment. On top of that, They are using the portal to their advantage which is what every other team does and would welcome the transfers they are getting. That is what the system encourages. I can see it now…they win the championship and “they bought it”. They don’t and they are chumps. No win situation.
NIL done correctly is a phenomenal, much deserved tool for players. What's needed are better guidelines & oversight. It's the wild West currently. ROLL TIDE 💪🔥🐘
