WOW. Such crisp photos. I can't believe how quality shadows and distinctive white you got just from a bedroom studio. If you could tell me what lighting setup and diffusers you used, it would help me A LOT. Cheers!

I mainly use umbrellas this is a large umbrella with diffusion. Behind camera is xl with diffusion to fill the shadows.

Great video! If I want to select multiple images and delete those before I start culling - how do I do that? I find that if I mark for instance 100 images in the beginning of a shoot where I am just adjusting the light (by marking the first image + press Shift and then mark the last image) - and then pressing delete (or shortcut T for Trash) - then this is only applied to the first image and not the rest 99. It's like my images are not included in a selection. How can I do that quickly? I often have to select multiple images and select those without going through one by one and marking with stars or colours. Thanks in advance ;-)

Susanne great question. You first must make sure "edit all selected variants" is enabled. Once enabled you will be able to mass delete photos or anything else. The shortcut on mac is CMD + Shift +E.

Hi. Good video! How were you able to put the two images side by side to compare?

I just purchased Capture One yesterday, and this was my first video I've watched on RU-vid! Coming from Lightroom, the Cull tab along with smart adjustments, will exponentially decrease the amount of time I spend editing.

That's so good to hear. I really need to start making more videos again. I have not downloaded the new version yet with Culling tab.

This is good info. Thanks for sharing it. I like what I'm seeing with the catalog maker software. I've used CCC as well but I'm currently using a cloud backup right now. I have a 4TB external drive that everything goes onto and it is constantly backed up to the cloud. I never would have gotten the cloud backup if I hadn't had a drive fail. It's only happened once in my lifetime, but once was enough. I do like the idea of duplicating the drive and making a backup once it is full. I think I'd be good with two copies of full drives in separate locations, but until my initial drive is full I'll personally hang onto my cloud storage since it is my second backup for now. As for the file naming structure, I like what you have. I have mine set up in a similar way. There is a piece of software called Better Rename that I got away from but plan to get back to. I like it because it can pull metadata from the files into the filenames. If for some reason something were to happen to the folder structure, I could still have files that would automatically be sorted in the right order by their dates. It can get pretty involved but it's nice to have a deep level of customization.

Thanks for that info. I’m going to check out that renaming software. I also do a lot of printing so I count that as a back up as well. Do you print your favorite images?

@@Wychestudios1 If you end up getting use out of the renaming software I’d love to see how you approach it. I’ve only just recently started printing some of my favorite personal/family images. I’m the only one who stands two inches from the prints to see how everything came out. :) I also have ideas about to putting together a hardcover book of images for the family but that’s still in the idea phase. I haven’t printed my favorite client images. I’ll have to give some thought to that. Do you tend to use a lab or do you print enough to do all it at home?
@Wychestudios1

@@davidcolephoto I do all my printing at home. I have Canon Pro 1000.

Hey Brandon. This was another good one. 👌🏽 One of my buddies uses a game controller to map buttons to culling functions in Lightroom. I think I may combine what he's doing with what you've demonstrated here for C1. I hope you're staying safe out there.
@Wychestudios1

David Cole Photography thats an interesting method. I wonder what program he uses to map the buttons.
@davidcolephoto
@davidcolephoto 4 года назад
Wyche Studios He uses a PC, but for my Mac, I’ve bought Joystick Mapper. I was using it for Steam gaming a while back. That’s what I plan to use. I’ve actually done it with a separate program called Fast Raw Viewer, but I never thought to do it with C1. Joystick Mapper is $5 in the Mac App Store. It’s the only thing I’ve used.

Hey Brandon. I thought this was really helpful. I found the preview for sharpening to be a nice touch. I wasn’t aware that existed. I also didn’t know that there was a token to name the folder based on the recipe, so that was cool to see as well. Great images man. Keep the videos coming! 👌🏽
