The sheer level of terraforming (which it is what's been done) the Dutch have done to claim land to expand is just amazing to see. I just hope that with all the climate change happening, all that work doesn't ultimately go to waste.
Nice one mate, that bit about the racetrack was pretty cool. Love things like that One day when I get onto continental Europe I’ll have to stay around the Berlin area and try to get a lap of the A10 in 😁
@@Sven_E Fair play to you for getting half of it done! I managed to do the full lap (including the A282) a couple of years back but had to get up early so I could do it with little traffic and so I didn’t have to pay for the Dartford Crossing 😂
You know, there's one thing that makes me laugh when it comes to British pull-through signs on expressways. "THE NORTH" really is unique as things comes IMO.
Yeah it’s certainly different. We have 12 of those in total plus a few unofficial ones as well To make things even more weird when you get to the Pennines area the north is at that point heading for the north east!
from luton onwards it just becomes the most disgusting infrastucture investment where they remove hard shoulder to add a fourth lane all the way to M6 all to save costs, so almost 110km of no hard shoulder........and it also becomes the worse driven motorway. Smart motorways are extemely dangerous when there is no hard shoulder. M6 from B'ham to Manchester is fully smart motorway....even worse. Then installing every 3 km of speed cameras does not solve the traffic but makes drivers brake everytime they approach to a speed camera, it is not wonder why it took you 4,5 hours when in reality it should be 3,5hrs if they actually did some good works which UK totally cannot be asked to do. Stupid country! Good thing that the government scrapped smart motorways due to safety concerns. Right, after 11-12 years they realise now the amount of families got killed and how unsafe they became in these areas, there is even a documentary about it. Anyways, Great Video!!!
Nice one mate, great video ☺️ When you say flashers do you mean the alternating flashing lights? If so these are still found on the motorways (and some A roads) that haven’t been upgraded however the speed limits they display are advisory rather than the compulsory ones on here. Interesting to know the difference between here and the Netherlands though when it comes to limits on these. Lowest I’ve seen here is 40 although I saw 20 as an advisory once! Regarding the catenary lighting, north of M25 it was removed with those widening works but south of it they were removed during Covid I think. The widening works also got rid of the M10 which was downgraded, it joined at J7 where the parallel lanes were built for that and J8. This had opened at the same time as that section of M1 in 1959 to distribute traffic. Its northern equivalent, the M45, still exists today and is largely unchanged bar a junction built in the 90s. Another point of interest is the first lot of services you passed which are situated at where J3 is supposed to be. That junction is there bar the eastern section of the roundabout so getting in and out of those services on the London bound side is interesting to say the least.
Leuke video!
They also need to bring the modular airports back, too. I'm surprised they don't have custom building assets yet. They need to bring back procedural objects, too, and the building blocks also. Custom vehicles and stuff, too.
I live in the area and driving with 200+ through these corners is absolutely thrilling. You really have to be concentrated and when you are in a powerful car the climbs where a normal car cant go faster than 140 kph are just insane. There you can really feel what power is.
Hele mooie route! Wel druk voor een zondagochtend. Op de A1 Zagreb- Split wordt ook heel snel gereden. Volgens mij staan er op de snelwegen in Kroatië geen flitspalen althans ik heb er nog nooit een gezien daar.
Drove this in 2018 driving form Istria to Plitvice Lakes NP. Always found this motorway very impressive with all the valley bridges and tunnels to traverse the difficult terrain. The Croats know how to build motorways! Hope you do the A1 towards Split and further south as well one day. Great video, great job!
i drove from Luzern to Split and had to go through this Highway and boy was that a route! Amazing views and not to forget that time there were loads of roadworks on those viadcuts. And CHEAPER TOLL prices! (that was before croatia join euro). Amazing route though. You should drive from Kovlac to Split and watch how the landscape changes! its beautiful!
Nice one mate, reminds me a bit of the M40 here due to the gap in which it was completed I also know the feeling with the toll booth, although it wasn’t a broken barrier for me I got myself in a panic at one in Ireland as I wasn’t sure if it did card payments as well as cash and had to do similar to get to a card booth!
Nice one mate, the A38(M) into Birmingham at Spaghetti Junction is also unique in this country as it’s a 7 lane single carriageway motorway with tidal flow One of the other issues with the M6 Toll is not just people avoiding the toll charge (a full trip along it is nearly £9 now) but also that it doesn’t cater for local traffic around Birmingham very well which still has to use the M6
LOL First I thought WTF is this response and then I read this again and I agree partially. The country has beauty definitely but drivers in the UK are lane hoggers. Terrible.
