Only great thing about the internet is once in a while you stumble upon a lost mindblowing gem like this,Ozzy Sabbath head here and this is like christmas morning ❤
Jody - Jim Norton (Jim & Sam Show on Sirius XM / O&A fame) mentioned he loved your dad's version on the show today. I'm sure he'd like to have you on the program to chat about the track's origins, etc.
Eric had to be shaking his head when he heard this...especially after his epic arrangement with Aalon Butler on his Sun Secrets album from this same era. These dweebs must have had the opportunity to listen to it at some point.....then embarrased themselves with this wimpy version that should have been burned in the studio. Blasphemy!
This arrangement definitely has the sound of Oz's last two albums with BS. What a crazy period it was from '75-79 for rock bands. Little did anyone know the early 80's metal scene would completely blow the roof off the genre and provide us some amazing masterpieces.
This is 100% Ozzy singing here. His singing voice is so unique and soulful. He was the ideal fit to all of Sabbaths early stuff and Geezer Butler wrote lyrics that perfectly suited his style of singing. Only heard a couple of other singers over the years that sound a bit like him during the chorus of their songs and that is Goyte on the 'song somebody that i used to know' and the rock ballad 'suddenly' by the Australian singer Angry Anderson.
How has this escaped my ears for so long? There needs to be a release of ALL the Ozzy era outtakes/ b sides/demos/ outside recordings etc. For sure it would be better than that garbage 13 lp that unfortunately is Sabbath's epitaph.
