There’s no way any of those waves were 55 feet high. You know that you have to measure from the surface of the water to the top of the wave, right? Those waves were 20 feet high, at best. Ex-surfer here. Well, you got me to watch the video so lie about it in the title and that justifies everything.

It really would of been awesome if over the ocean horizon a officially 40m swell just appeared out of nowhere and surprised all the ppl that was just standing there and swept everything underneath the water and the only thing that survive was the camera's Wouldn't that be mind blowing ppl🤯
Judge me all you want but I think that, after the 2004 asian tsunami, the 2011 Japan tsunami, and the 2018 Indonesian tsunami, where thousands of people died, people still go to the shores to wonder how big are the waves. These people are seeing the size of these things and they just stay there. It takes another person to scream at them for them to move. SERIOUSLY!!!! How irresponsible. Seek shelter and a safe place to go. This could have been the early waves of a massive tsunami, THANK GOD IT WAS NOT, BUT HAD IT BEEN, THESE PEOPLE WOULD HAVE NOT STAND A CHANCE. I am not asking people to fear nature, but to respect it a more.
Hey man! This waves are big! No question. But it is impossible that they are 55 ft but as well not 15, 20 ft... wrote in the comments. The biggest waves needs for breaking / falling down 1,2 - 1,35 secundes. The free fall formular is: h = 0,5 * g * t^2. So 0,5 * 9,81 (m/s^2) * (1,35 s)^2 = 9 m (27,5 ft) at best. So would say thoose waves are 25 ft. So the comments with "it's just double time of the real size" are about right.
@@Alohadunebuggy It's possible that the wall is 15-20 ft tall. But this wall is mostly under water in the video. A 55 ft wave needs for breaking about 1,85 secundes.
