Hey Alex , I'm also using a pair dt 990 pro 250 ohm and the only portable interface i tried that powered them was the audient id4 mk2 .. Just curious if you ever gave that interface a try .. Great video
Yeah it’s a great little interface. I’d even go as far as to say it’s the best budget portable audio interface. But for mixing quality the M900 does one thing only and does it exceptionally well. So I always take it as my portable mix set up.
You just plug the stereo (satellite) speakers into the Kali Subwoofer and it separates the frequencies for you at a 80hz crossover. So nothing below 80hz goes to sub and anything above goes to the speakers
I did. It just didn’t sound good. The phase ruins the transients. But I’m more of a high end listening user and I don’t think it’s aimed at me. Something like Trinnov which is way more expensive is targeted towards me. But for people who have speakers £4000 & below I think this can be a viable option if your ok with the latency.
I would dump their hardware, use REW and a calibration mic, run it through your audio interface, then use the IK software to apply the EQ Curves. Only issue with Nova Trinnov setups are that they don't fix anything in reality. They squeeze the sound out at various frequencies to all the speakers and essentially are modifying your sound. i don't think any system that modifies your sound in software is a good solution. Spending more on room treatment would be the best approach (and in your home, you can only do so much anyway). In the end, if you are talented, have a good ear, can use the hardware/software at your disposable, then that is all you need. Majority of the top selling music has been produced in small bedrooms in recent times not in flashy studios running Trinnov RTA or other gizmos. I have to say that IK have produced something which aims to alleviate issues at a reasonable price and for that they need to be commended. Whereas trinnov certainly know how to take the proverbial 😀
I agree. I persanally have zero use for this unit. And I avoid any room correction eq. I’d rather change my speakers to find ones that fit room, do proper speaker positioning. Do proper room acoustics. Which is what I’ve done. Amphions with sub work great in hear. Only issue that was really expensive to fix was covering my rear wall with 40hz tuned bass traps from GIK acoustics.
I would say the technicality can. But the time and sound cannot. So it’s really about how much the tone resonates with you. For some of us we love it. But it also won’t be for everyone. It’s defo a high end specialist plugin for those really into the details ❤️
Interesting…seems like a fairly inexpensive product for a person like yourself..everything high end except that arc studio. I subbed..you seem very knowledgeable.
Thankyou very much. That’s the real truth with plugins right, the source material is what makes them shine. Can’t polish a turd per se 😅. Thankyou very much for the compliment. I’m working on getting it out soon
I love reverbs and delays and this sound so smooth and amazingly lush and beautiful and I will for shure buy this one,.. and by the way... Is this amazing song available that you use for this demonstration of this reverb delay plugin?
@@FreebeatMusicProd it’s such an amazing reverb you won’t regret it. And regarding the song Thankyou very much. It isn’t out just yet but as many are asking I will make arrangements to release it ❤️
@@WhoIsAlexElliott Thanks and I am looking forward to the release of that song ❤🤩 and I will for shure buy that plugin 😉 Thanks for your video and for making your review and demostration of it 😃
I don’t think they missed it by accident but it was more of the size and compact factor. It would have had to of been a rack mount to include all the additional of talk back. Only so much space in this Qube chassis. And it would have mean XLR mic input on the back where as the options they have chosen on the back currently are much better (in particular the pass through option and XLR speaker options). It’s really for people who have project studios without the vocal booth. Most people who have a vocal proof usually have a desk or a proper monitoring solution that cost x2 as much ❤
The longer proprietary cable should really be included, both in the box and in the price; I mean it's only $10, but by email order!? Besides, everybody is very likely to need it sooner or later (given the RCA connections!) At least as a backup solution, in case that the short proprietary cable gets eaten by the dog!
Yes, it's just FUN to do stuff in Ableton. Want to put a sampler on a drum rack pad and load up multiple drum samples, which are then selected/switched ON THE FLY by a macro knob which I can even easily automate... with just a COUPLE of clicks? Just DO IT. Stuff like this STILL blows my mind. Ableton Live ITSELF is just fun to use on top of feeling the joy from making music. In all other DAWs I feel like I need to read the manual twice to do basic things and have a Masters Degree for more fancy stuff - in Ableton Live it's just: "I wonder what would happen if you do XYZ?... BAM it works, lol"
Regarding your mention of Apple being known for making everything easy, ergonomic and smooth - i bought my first iPhone after being an Android user since the beginning... I'm partially shocked HOW BAD Apple is in this regard (at least on their phones, i still prefer MacOS over any other OS): TWO key things of a smartphone: navigation and the keyboard are seriously a joke compared to what ANY Android device offers (e.g. the lack of an universal system wide and EASY to use back gesture on iOS feels like using Logic Pro's browser)
But still, I miss the scroll wheel for scrolling pages 😮 I also work for something else on a high end windows computer, gaming simulation, gaming testing and development. So, I need and ergonomic trackball mouse with a scroll wheel. There are many but a few are realy looking good. I need to test them👍🏼
I understand. There is actually a scroll wheel that surrounds the trackball for this particular expert version but in all fairness I use my magic track pad for scrolling as it’s super easy and I got used to it 👌
@@WhoIsAlexElliott Next Tuesday I will hopefully receive my Kensington expert mouse optically wired(not a fan from wireless in my studio) with my external 5TB SSD USB-C from LaCie. Hopefully the mouse will give me satisfaction during production. There are some reviews with disappointments that I have seen, but I hope I don't receive a bad apple or with an producting/factory failure. Sometimes when rolling the rackball in one fast movement, the mouse won't respond. we'll see or a small ruby-ball at the sensors is missing. Keep my fingers crossed
I havnt had that. But one thing I didn’t mention cause it’s a little nasty haha. Is dead skin can build up overtime in the sensors you just take the ball out and clean them if your ball is moving slow.
@@WhoIsAlexElliott I already noticed this. But no food, drinks or pets in my studio. Because we also have that with producers, right? But I also have alcohol wipes here. So if you pick your nose or scratch my head, take off your hands first. A bit extreme, but I'm in a 40k euro studio. Respect in my studio hahaha
@@lX-NDR Yh I have now. I was initially using Ableton for creation and Logic for mixing and Recording sessions still but J Was in a session other day at the record label and logic was acting up so I just ran the sesh in ableton. That was the day I decided I’ve now switched 100% now! Also delivered two successful mixes in ableton so apart from 5.1 surround sound there’s no reason to stay
So I did compare the actual api 550a eq part to my hardware api a while back. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-LuTBef8LiK0.htmlfeature=shared But may still do a full video. I just have the real APi stuff so wasn’t as much of a stable for me
I really enjoy how much you like using the daw. It sparks my own inspiration to deep dive into the capabilities in Ableton. I love it but there are so many possibilities and I get overwhelmed sometimes. Looking forward to learning more!
Not even into reverb & delay like that yet but this seems interesting & sounds sweet so may have to invest on impulse as will come in handy & hopefully will stop me buying any other since I already like this sound!
I've been using Lunar Lander for years now. In my opinion, it's probably the most versatile rev/del plug. However...I prefer the previous incarnation...controversial, I'm sure. It's just more immediate, and it takes me back to the hardware units I used to use 30 years ago. This is gorgeous though, I totally recommend it. The plates are just the best as far as I am concerned. There's a preset on the previous version...Mars something or other. I start there and it's wonderful on E Guitars and Piano. Just tweek a wee bit and you're there in 30 secs. From lush and deep, to forward and in your face. Another fantastic 'could be an instrument' delay is OhmForce OhmBoyz, which I used to death 20 years ago, and it's just got a makeover apparently and updated to VST3. I don't have it yet, but the original (if you can still run it in 2024) will keep you going and tweeking and automating for days. It's just incredible.
Ooooo Ohmforce had the best distortion plugin on the market at the time (the white and red one, can’t recall the name?). I’m so glad they are back. And I’m not familiar with the previous version but I’ll see if I can track down that preset. I’m having a lot of fun with this one & I agree about how good the plates sound!
You are talking about the |Martians March| preset. It is very hard to convert the presets; however, you got me interested and went ahead and spent some time to get that preset converted to the new P930 LL. I hope in a week to get an update to P930 with a few selected ported presets.
@@pulsarmodular Calling Mars is the preset. It's just gorgeous. I only just realised that you can run both plugin versions simultaneously as they have a different name ... well done Pulsar Modular.
Just figuring out best way to do it. I did one last time that was an hour long but people didn’t watch most of it and it hurt my channels retention quite bad. Will perhaps do shorter versions. I did a breakdown of the synth here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-eo8nR9rP9VA.htmlfeature=shared
Sounds great - I can't access their website right now though - it is currently an endless loop of "Verify You Are Human" challenges. Too bad. I would have liked to get this.
@@WhoIsAlexElliott The pulsar modular website opens normally but when clicking a product, like the P930 I am redirected to a 'proof you are not a robot' picture challenge. After completing the challenge the next one pops up and so on. I never make it to the the product page.
@@WhoIsAlexElliott i have a similar type of desk in black. Very sturdy and plenty of rack space. Even though most of my mastering work now done in the box. Look forward to more bids. Thanks 👍
