Hello, first of all, thank you very much for sharing this is very educational and second of all I wanted to ask if I am running: oracle DB in a container, what do I need to connect to de data base and make the deferents operations on that Data base? Thank you in advance for your time!!!
There is no difference of C# in VSCode and Visual Studio. Microsoft has a product named "Visual Studio" which is available for Windows. They did launch a similar product (Visual Studio for MAC) for MacOS also, but unfortunately, now discontinued. As per Microsoft, they are asking to use VSCode which is more of a open source tool with lot of extensions that could be integrated. The Visual Studio comes in different flavors like Visual Studio Community, Professional, Enterprise with different features. But Visual Studio only comes with one flavour with extensions to work with.
Extremely helpful, thank you. I only have access to a mac at the moment. I'd usually always opt for Visual Studio when I have the option but since VSCode is what I have, this video is exactly what I needed.
👋Thank you for this. Moving back from PC to a Mac Studio and wanted to do some stuff in SQL. No issues other than running the default p/w too quickly. I did learn docker rm command and corrected things.
My one issue was where I forget to set password. I tried to remove container and read. I made things worse it seems. Every time I run the second script, if goes to a 'quote' prompt. I will come back and try again later. Environment: New Mac Studio and new OS.@@dhandrohit
This is something I really need, especially with all the chaos mac m series chips and visual studio. Thanks for this playlist. Would like to see more of this of a complete webapi app conneting to sql server
thank you so much, been looking for exactly this for weeks! Although I may be using postgres, planetscale or mongodb. Although after watching this I may just try mysql. Working on a project to fetch sales data (json) from an external api every 5 minutes (for 30 different api calls, with different bearer tokens for 30 separate retail units) and insert into a db.
You have to login into the container using /opt/mssql-tools/bin/sqlcmd -S <ipaddress, port> -U SA and then use the copy command to copy the mdf file to your local machine.
@@dhandrohit Is this for terminal?"/opt/mssql-tools/bin/sqlcmd -S <ipaddress, port> -U SA" I typed it, and it says "zsh: no such file or directory: ipaddress" 😢
Thank you very much! I appreciate it! If you could a full project of data ETL process covering data factory, synapse and powerBI, would be perfect to improve hands-on skills.
This was very helpful. Just curious about how I add a SQL Server backup to my container. I've tried uploading the file to my container, but get permission errors. My goal is to restore a backed up database.
You have to use the interactive shell to log into the running container. Use the command docker exec -it sqlserverdocker bash Once the above command connects you to the interactive shell, type the following command to copy or do whatever you want to do. /opt/mssql-tools/bin/sqlcmd -S <ipaddress, port> -U SA
@@dhandrohit Thanks! I was able to use a bind-mount to mount a folder from my local computer where the sqlserver.bak file was; which I then selected from azure data studio to restore. That said, your video was just what I needed to get going. Thank you once again.
Do you know what this error means? If you are getting the data.map is not a function it means that stuff is not in the form of array or undefined. Check the response on which you are applying the data.map function.
Hi! I have an error. A network-related or instance-specific error occurred while establishing a connection to SQL Server. The server was not found or was not accessible. Verify that the instance name is correct and that SQL Server is configured to allow remote connections. (provider: TCP Provider, error: 40 - Could not open a connection to SQL Server: Could not open a connection to SQL Server) I notice that the container exits after running it immediatiely which is why i think the error occurs. Is there a way to fix it. I have a M1 mac btw. Thanks in advance!

You have to use: "server=sqlserver; user=sa; password=<that you kept when initializng the image>". It's the same info that use to initialize the docker container.
