I love hiking and exploring around and always wondered how it would be going through this creeks and your channel answers my questions!! Amazing footage, got a new follower 🥾🥾
@@javier-m75I’ve gone probably 5 times in the last 3 years, last time was before last years big snow event so I think that’s what it was! I hope so and I’ll be there next month so see if I catch some water 🔥
Check out Sespe Creek (outside of Ojai) per your intro of a class V boater living in San Diego looking for adventure in SoCal. It goes with good rain storms and feels like a little extension of the Sierra. Upper Santa Ana River in and around Mt San Gorgonio north of you may warrant some exploration too... That little creek and surroundings you guys were on looks like west Texas hill country. Unique! Cheers guys
There was hardly any growth in the actual river bed. Looks like it could be fun with kore water too but more water might make those tight lines a little dicey.
That tunnel you went through at the very beginning is where that young man died. There is a deep hole in the middle of that tunnel and it has rebar and the young man got impaled by the rebar and they could not pull him out. They had to divert the entire creek to after a couple weeks to pull him out and give his body to his family. That is the second person that died last winter in that very same area by being impaled by either rebar or sharp sticks, both DIED.
The fact that none of the "pro" kayakers venture into this section gives you even more legitimacy as a true legend bro. Plus, getting to have an epic trip with Max is a blessing unto itself. Much love Gavin ❤
What an epic series of falls! That first rapid in the Mommy Gorge, with all the water forced in split streams into a narrow area was wild. What a whiteout! How long did it take for the oblique muscle to recover/relax?
We rafted this and I will never ever forget it. The rapids below Double Falls were amazing. We had about 800 to 1000 CFS, The rapid at 3:14 of your video gave us pause, it was like a flume ride and an uphill climb through a big reversal. We couldn't scout the bottom of the rapid, but I couldn't imagine anything could be wedged in the last drop. The Crucible was also a huge challenge, we had to lasso a tree trunk to scout the drop below Arrowhead Falls. You felt so small in this section, no shore to scout from, just cliffs, especially on river left. We had the trip of a lifetime.
That was an interesting "rock splat" you did that on that "just right" line... ;-) Seriously though, what a beautiful stretch of whitewater! What more can you wish for: Cool paddling buddies providing the carnage, great scenery and fun whitewater! 🙂
Nice one brother! Well done man. Some nice moves in there! Where did you put in? Im visiting family in SoCal and have my boating gear. Im looking at North Fork San Gabriel, Piru and Sespe as well.
