@@Skiddy.Automotive awesome!! When you get a chance watch Garrett’s brothers burn out in the hell cat. It ended up calling on star and garret’s reaction is hysterical
I was trying to replace a rusted plug on a 1997 Dodge Dakota without pulling the motor or exhaust manifold. I could not get in to swing a hammer or anything, and prying it in was getting me nowhere. After sitting back and spending about an hour just staring at the wall of all my tools, I ended up finding an old 3/4" drive socket that nested inside the plug. I was then able to get an even older Bostitch air palm nailer with the psi turned way down to get it perfectly seated. I ended up doing every plug I could reach with the motor mounts out and a jack under the motor.

Why would you not put in new u-joints?? They were out, it's the most perfect time. So what if the others were good. They would make good back ups. Also, what motor are you guys putting in there. The truck is built for a modular engine, which has the motor mounts set back a little farther on the block to allow the motor to sit forward a tiny bit. Granted, a modular engine is also much bigger and still sits close to the firewall. However, that one looked like it had plenty of room to maybe use some offset motor mounts to pull the motor forward slightly. I get it, this is a budget thing. At least I'm assuming it is, but it still needs to be done right so you don't have to do it again. That's why I cringed when I saw old u-joints going back in. Trust me, I live week to week and wish I had the money to start working on my f150, but no way would I take out old u-joints and NOT put new ones back in. Anyway, I applaud you two for working outside. I know you're in SC and the weather here hasn't been favorable. I wish I had a concrete pad so I could at least start tearing my truck down (blown 5.4). I can't even do that much this time of year. It's going to be interesting to watch this build.
Hey, thanks for the feedback! We will be putting new u-joints in. But we just threw it together to get it mocked up for the motor mounts but everything was taken back out (which wasn’t videoed) and the motor is a built 351 Windsor. Thanks for watching!
