Been using two sifter boxes with pellets for about a year. I just replaced one sifter box with a larger plain open litter box. I put a lot more pellets in it with a small amount of clay. My cat now buries her poop! It seems like she likes the feel of the digging. I use a big metal spoon to clean out the sawdust and poop, then stir it all around with the scoop, and occasionally add baking soda. The only downside is the litter genie has to be emptied more often because the sawdust fills it up. Oh, and now I have to FIND the poop, where before it was just sitting there on top, but I'm OK with that because the "new poop odor" is greatly reduced.
I use this type of litter. I get a 40 lb bag of it from Tractor Supply for $7/bag. I use it for multiple cats and change every 3 days. You can order it online & pick up at curbside :)
I’ve used a pine pellet-based cat litter for years. It absorbed odors well, and my cats were happy with it, so it was a win-win. Recently, however, my home was infested with bull ants, which are known for their extremely painful bites. The exterminator I hired identified the source of the infestation was the litter. Ants are attracted to the sugar in the wood pellets as I had a new unopened bag when we opened it there was ants in that one also..

My only problem with the wood pellet is that the poop smelled so bad!!! I would pick it up right away but still, the whole house would get smelly and my Cat would not cover it with the wood pellet so I had to switch to the clumping ones. I don't. like them either!!! I wish with pine Pellets the poop wouldn't smell as bad. SO I just bought a few things tonight to see if I can Mix the clumping ones with the wood pellet ones!! Lets see if that works.
1st question, is the wooden pallet bag easily available in pet shop, everywhere? 2nd is, for pee its ok that it comes down thr sieve but wat abut their poop, does the poop form clump with wooden pallets or remain as such? Plz reply. Thnx
We buy our wood pellets from a farm store. It's used for Equine bedding. A 40# bag costs about $ 8 USD. It lasts us approximately 2 months with 3 cats.
