Did you know that in most suicide cases, the shot is aimed at the temple? This might be due to the false perception of being trapped in our skulls, giving the sensation of merely being pilots of our bodies, making the suicidal person aim not at the most vital part of the body, but where they suppose they are. Dostoevsky tells the story of a ridiculous man, a man who had decided to end his own life. When a man decides to die, he becomes a dead man immediately, nothing in the world matters to him anymore, everything is indifferent. But suddenly, a little girl, just eight years old, interrupts his reverie, pulling him strongly by the elbow. She, drenched and desperate, was screaming "Mamátchka! Mamátchka!" The girl's mother was dying somewhere. But he was a dead man, and to him, everything was indifferent. The world would be destroyed, at least for him, so he stomps his foot and yells at the child, who, shocked, lets go of him and runs away. When he gets home, he takes the revolver and sits at the table, determined that it would be there and then, if not for the girl. Because recalling, he asks himself, why didn't he help her? The man falls into a deep reverie; in a word, that girl saved him because these questions delayed the shot. Suddenly, he falls asleep and starts to dream, if it was indeed a dream. The man takes the revolver and instead of pointing it at his right temple, he points it at his heart and pulls the trigger. Everything shakes and goes dark; the world was destroyed. The story continues, but it's only this part that interests us. Notice, all the while, his reason agrees with his act and his body walks obediently to the table, obeying the brain. However, upon remembering the girl, he feels compassion, which prevents the shot. In other words, the only part of his body that disagreed with his death was his heart, because to be a dead man, one must first kill love. It is not ridiculous to be unloved; it is ridiculous not to love, because loving is the vocation of man. Christ did not command you to be loved; He commanded you to love. And when everyone breaks this commandment, it does not absolve you from fulfilling it. So cry out, even if no one cries out, because if everyone falls silent, the stones will cry out.
