I have the same bike. After a lot of reading I was 50/50 on actually lubing a chain. I finally decided to NOT oil the chain. The chain on the bike IS sealed so all the lube actually helps is the outside of the chain rollers rubbing on the sprocket teeth. Since I do not ride in the rain, rust is not that big of an issue. So I currently have 5k miles on my bike and the chain has no excess stretching and all the sprocket teeth are fine.
I also have a Royal Enfield interceptor. I have a lubed the chain every 400 miles or so with maxima. I currently have 12,000 mi on the original chain and sprockets.
Wonderful bike. I've had my 1970 R60/5 for 53 years. It's just like brand new. Today, August 23,2024, I installed an electronic ignition from EME, and the bike runs better than ever. You would love it! The installation is simple. Here's a guy on RU-vid with a nice how-to video if you are interested. === ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-j4MDjTVoBzI.htmlsi=DA1YcjmDf3CvzTqs
Fantastic machines, i bought a Ryker rallye last year and traded that into a Spyder F3-s for 1,5 month ago. Best I ever done! A manta green 2023 brand new. Joined a Facebook community and we go for a coffee or a snack around the area.
I had one for a year. Sold it last June. I traveled 7000 miles and I really enjoyed it. I now have a RE Interceptor. They are both great bikes to own!! Enjoy Your time on it!! 😁👍
We just did the entire trail minus Iowa, we thought the bridge back to Wisconsin was out. Good times!! 1 section of the map we used was no longer passable and turned left onto an ATV trail. Got stuck for 3 hours, then back tracted to the highway and back on the trail in the other side. But that's part of the adventure!!
This weekend, Jun 1 2024, there is an event going on in Galena called Hugelandshaft. A bunch of us meet at the Palace campground and GPX tracks of lots of cool routes in the area are distributed from Advrider.
Sticking to those running in speeds would definitely destroy your big and little ends. Where I live those speeds would be impossible. RE have no way tried those speeds
Thank you for the ride! In four days Ill be the proud owner of a 2002 Concours C10 and I appreciate your review of this great bike! I plan to do all the service and upgrades to it before I really start to ride it and am looking forward to years of happy memories! All the best to you. Cheers.
Cemeteries frequently have gravel paths going to them. And it is always legal to visit a cemetery in the daytime. When you live in Illinois you have to off-road where you can.
The town of Woodstock has a classic Town square. In the movie Groundhog Day it was used in the movie. At this location they have done that for the past few years.
Thanks for the videos. You are correct, there isn't really a modern replacement for the xt225. There are of course similar motorcycles but nothing with such a low seat height and 6 speed transmission. I noticed you talked about your boy. I have a 10 year old son. Any suggestions on a suitable youth motorcycle for that age?
