Any chance you could do a step-by-step reassembly? I’m having trouble realigning the open closed function and I have something not installed right or lined up right and I don’t know where my mistake is. Thank you.
Well done, sir. I just bought one of these mugs and I’m overall delighted. I’ve already done the quick and easy clean involving removal of the quarter turn nut and the associated parts but I haven’t done the full disassembly approach yet. I’m curious if you (or anyone else reading this) have an opinion on how often the lid should be fully disassembled for cleaning.
I have two of the 860i camping generators - mine are only 600 watts max for me i only need 350 watts so it works fine - my older one is about 3 yrs old and now has 1800 hrs on it and still doesnt use a notasable amount of oil - it has the origanal spark plug -
Both of my 5 year-old Thermoses finally shit the bed--I went to disassemble the lids to clean them and when I backed out that small screw the plastic simply came out with it! That's as far as I got, so thanks for confirming that I'll simply finally need to replace them... although I may just try filling that stripped hole with JB Weld and re-screwing.. we'll see how impatient I get. 😂
Wally near me stopped selling this model, found a replacement but the diameter of the new one is much larger and the system isn't as air tight. I should have bought as many as I could find when this one was $ 10 bucks on clearance.
The ring with the wording has a locating groove as described. The groove is small and easily missed. The ring can be installed out of that groove as it incorrectly was on my new mug. It will then deform the ring slightly. When I cleaned my lid and installed the ring correctly, I found that the wording, open/closed, were around the wrong way. Nothing I can do will make open and closed be in the correct position. I think it must be a printing error. So for me, open is closed. Not the biggest problem in life but..... Reply

If you have a shorter wheelbase vehicle to transport, the U-Haul trailers have way too much tongue weight. Due to the design, the towed vehicle must be pulled all the way forward. It does tow very nice though.
My husband brews tea every morning, and because we couldn't figure out how to clean the buildup in the lid especially, I have replaced more than a few of these mugs (which we otherwise think are the BEST out there!) due to the disgusting state they get in. The worst part (outside of the expense) is that it's always a challenge to find the color he likes, so just when he gets attached it seems as if I'm searching for a new one. Fortunately, he came across this video and we just can't find enough nice words to say to you, so we hope a BIG THANK YOU works. Greg, YOU ROCK!!!
BRAVO! This is by far the most detailed video I've seen revealing the crevices buildup and debris can occur in this lid. I did not remove the center spindle, but I have removed the small gasket there. I was shocked at the chunks of the debris I was able to clean out of there. This was after years of use. I am blown away and quite grateful of your detail. Thank you!!
Thank you so much - my lid smelt awful and no amount of cleaning the 3 gaskets helped. This has allowed me to clean it and make it like new!! Greatly appreciated. Now to do my husband's and my mum's flasks.
Yes these lids are tough to clean. I've had mine for 7 years orso and left it in a hot car for a week or two on many occasions... the inside of the lid had so much tar-like goop in it the open-close mechanism got stuck. I finally got it working again after a complete deep cleaning with sodium hydroxide

Thank you so much for the video. Do you know if the silver ring on the mouth piece comes off? I believe I have water trapped behind the silver ring. When I shake the lid I can see water where the silver part meets the black plastic.

This helped a lot. So many partial dis/assembly cleaning videos but nothing that showed how to put the center part of the lid back together after a full disassembly to clean or replace parts.
Really thorough and well done video. I see Thermos only sells 3 main replacement gaskets. I like how the mug works but wonder how sanitary it is when bacteria can sit in the very innermost parts of this mug as most folks would not even take it all the way down. Anyway Thanks for the very good video instruction.
You sir, are a gentleman and a scholar . My husband lost his mind when i "broke" his lid cleaning out some nasty black sludge.. now i can fix it and he can shut up
