Hi! My name is Josh and I'm a videogame artist and designer. I also like to sculpt, write, and research almost everything. My channel has several types of content you might be interested in. I've got art tutorials, video game commentary, and soon will be adding a world-building series as well. Basically, if you like nerdy stuff you should feel at home here.
I know that you already made videos for beginners but I think they are a little bit too long and not that specific. It would be great if you could make some shorter videos where you show some specific techniques. Something like " How to sculpt fur?" "How to sculpt the skin?" "What is important to think about when it comes to posture?" " How to sculpt muscular arms vs skinny arms" " How to sculpt the male body vs the female body?"...and so on. Shorter videos (like max 10 minutes) and only about one specific area, body part or technique at a time. I hope your parents are well Josh😔
Hi Josh! I hope you are fine. Do you plan to make more videos soon? 😋 I really love your your art. I started sculpting 1 year ago and I find your videos so inspiring.
ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC VIDEO ! Lots of detail, do’s & dont’s, and tricks of the trade. Great teacher, explains things well and knows-his-stuff ! Very creative & artistic. I wish that I found you and your classes a few years ago, but I’m very grateful for you sharing your vast knowledge and creativity today ! So many thank you’s from your northern neighbor, here in Canada ! Julie
I sometimes watch your really long videos while I work - I mean this one is three and a half hours long! But I enjoy the sounds of your work - rexlaxes me :)
"Not so secret" made me hate myself. but when i succeeded, boy it feels like love at first sight. lol. Thank you Lupis for helping me. So patience in helping me for hours. And then he told me, you're the designer. Thank you very much for the love you put in the things we enjoy <3
Only recently began experimenting with this type of clay after becoming frustrated with polymer clay. Love the way I can build up bits at a time and be able to easily get a flawless blend after sanding. Still getting used to the drying and working times.
You have a fantastic talent! Thank you. How long though before Apoxie sculpt dries? Do you only take little bits out of the tub?If it hardens does the safe solution soften it again? Again thank you for creating. Ive been looking for a way to sculpt figures around twisted wood, and this looks like the perfect answer as it has to harden in place and obviously cant be kiln dried or baked.
The clay sets permanently after about 3 hours. It can not be re-softened. But can be carved, sanded, drilled, etc. And yeah, this is the perfect medium for what you're trying to do!
awesome video! Thank you! What wire did you use for the horns? Also, at what working time did you start carving the clay? I can see it's not soft, but not fully cured either. Do all your sculptures have a mold because I see people just molding over aluminum foil wrapped in painter's tape? I'm new to doing this, but want to learn the correct way. Thank you! :)
You can see how I constructed the horns around the 21 min mark. I start SCULPTING right away. I have to wait about 2-3 hours before CARVING. (These are two different processes) I'm not sure what you mean about the mold. You might mean armature, which is any structure that you build under the material you sculpt with. If that's what you mean, then yes, anything more than an inch thick needs some kind of armature for weight and cost reasons.
It was interesting to see that you were using the twin temples at Fanjingshan as inspiration. I can assure you that I had much more fun watching your video than the nightmare of ascending such steep steps alongside all those charming domestic tourists!! Are you going to do some more pillar/stack/pinnacle style models? Maybe something similar to James Bond island in Thailand?
Yeah, me too! I've been heads down for about a year on finishing a book/illustrations and developing a hobby product, but as soon as I come out of hibernation I'll be doing more fun art/characters/creature stuff!
I just want to say I say here for an hour searching through my subscriptions because I LOVE your videos so much, but I thought I was subscribed. I think it’s on my other channel, but I wanted to say that you were the first person I ever watched on clay techniques when I first started clay in early 22. I want to thank you for your helpful videos and I’m subscribed to the channel now on my main page and will never lose you again! 😂 Thank you for being you! ❤
Hi Josh, for fun I added up all the minutes in this playlist (33 videos) - did you realise that video 26 is missing? In any case so far you have uploaded 19 hours of videos! Really quite amazing the amount of work you have put into this sculpture and yet we still haven't seen the final reveal! I've probably watched a good 75% of the videos... I usually have it playing in the background while I work on other things. You are an amazing artist and I'm sure sculpture is just one of your artistic talents!
What?! Ep 26 is missing?! I'll have to look into that. And yeah, I feel bad about leaving things hanging like this, but I ended up taking as much time on the diorama he lives in as the actually colossus, and then I have a promise to my co-author to finish our 3rd book before I finish this series. But one thing I'm certain of... The final ep WILL be out this year.
