Great video guys we have only been half way up the Oodnadatta turned of to Coober Pedy ,doing the full track in 4 weeks time , love the ruins & bridges 😀👍
Thanks for the tip on the lower fridge access door replacement . Just ordered. I'm writing a webpage now on all the fails & fixes on my RC Kimberley after its first 3000k trip. I'll add your hatch idea.
Evening Brad thank you for the info, I think the Red centre have an issue with fridges coming loose. I would appreciate if you can tell me how you fixed it.
Thanks for trip run down it so good you fixed the sound I have a red centre van as well we pick up our van from the same place and had it for 2 years as well I would like to block off the bottom fridge vent as well to stop dust getting in where did you the get the door from any help would be grate thanks Craig
We got the hatch from Mandurah Caravan Repair Centre . I honestly think it would be easier and cheaper to silicone a piece of perspex to the existing hatch because I had to notch a small section of the frame and modify the hatch, hope that helps mate . See you out there 👍
Yeh it was a great over nighter its actually someone's property. There is two more on the coast Scott's Beach and Mexican Hat we could go there because of the dog. Thanks for watching 👍
Firstly thanks for taking us to some quite unique and out of the way places. Have been watching your channel for a few months now, mainly because we are also planning a lap and coincidentally the Red Centre vans (the Tanami in particular) is at the top of our list. You guys have had one for a year now, so I was wondering if you had any plans to do a review of how yours has performed (and I have noted your advice re the power upgrades required). Could you also answer a quick question re Starlink? I am contemplating working on the trip (not doing youtube!!) and would require to do a few hours of Zoom calls nightly. While I get the need for no trees, etc, in your experience is Starlink capable of providing this Zoom access consistently in the types of locations you have been visiting? Thanks heaps
Hey John. Firstly, thanks for the support we really appreciate it. As you can tell we are complete amateurs and it's nice to know some of what we're doing has been helpful. We will def do a video of how the van has fared. We have been pretty rough with it. Re the Starlink I dialed into a conference call at Catninga station and had no issues at all. Not the first time either, so I highly recommend it, in fact I wouldn't be without it!
Every summer gets the humid type of weather with summer thunderstorms hit the area of Docker River and the flash flooding is a big problem when it gets too much rain fall at once and also the cloud to ground lightning strikes are a big problem too. Lightning storms are beautiful to watch and watch it safe in Yulara by the Ayers Rock Resort and stay safe during storms. Lightning is one of the most powerful forces of nature and exceeds over hundreds millions of volts of electricity and it is nature’s high voltage. It is a typical desert monsoon season hit the summer months of thunderstorms building up in hot summer afternoons. Thunderstorms comes in November to March and the preparations of the severe thunderstorm warnings hit the area of the Docker River to Yulara in the Australia’s Northern Territory. Please check the weather conditions and alerts for driving safely in the flash floods and it can be treacherous for driving 4WD vehicles along the highways.
@0.12 I thought you might have been let out of Guantanamo bay compound. 🤔🤔🤔🤔. But have a safe trip guys, many spots to camp on GCR better than either Warburton or DR. Went across in June for BRB.
Hi Guys enjoying your video's with the Red Centre we have one and just wondering you do not have DSR how are you having any dust issues inside the van. Thanks
Hi there. No we don't, the van came with a scupper but it didn't help much! First thing we're doing when we get home is install one in the place of the vent above the bed. Lots of dust in cupboards this trip. Thanks for watching x
I'm curious , You have the extra solar panels running into the victron controller, so the output from the victron controller goes in to where? Does it go into the bmpro? Any chance of a wiring diagram ?
Hey Scott, both victrons and bm run separate out puts to the battery's hope that helps. I follow a guy on RU-vid Will Prowess and he is really helpful. I'll put a diagram on our Facebook page and tag you👍
That’s one thing that pisses me off about hipcamp. They show a price then add a big fee as you get to the payment section. $55.00 is a lot to pay for ‘off grid’ unless it’s absolutely amazing!
Hi Guys, we have a Red Centre, just wondering how you have found the scupper vent for dust suppression on your travels so far. Great to watch your video's and the DIY you do.
Hey mate, by no way am i criticizing. Your figures on the display cant be right, you had the AC and hair dryer running through the inverter at 1840 watts/1.84kw, divide that by 12 (volts) = 153 amps. The display only shows 20 to 30 amps being used. Your system can obviously run it all but the readout is inaccurate and you"ll run out of battery before you know it. For big loads like your running you need a shunt on the battery to give accurate readings, maybe there is one and its linked to the BMPro (mine was not synced with the link properly). What does the BMPro app tell you is being used with the AC on? The AC uses around 110/150 amps so unless that many amps are going in to the battery you cant possibly be on float. Ive got a Red Centre with the same BMPro and it will only return a maximum of 30 amps back to the battery which is poor in my opinion, yes you have two charge controllers with a combined max of 70 amps total which is good. Just sharing what I've learnt and its good to see what you have done with extra panels and controller, its a good idea. Happy holidays
Hey always great to have input and constructive criticism were doing another video because we took advice from mick and put another victron in and yeh there is a lot conflicting figures from each device. In the next video I've got the aircon running from 8.45 to 2.45 now and its still running and the victrons say float but the bm is flashing orange (charge). Thanks mate for the input were still learning and thanks for watching 👍
@@BJKAdventures22 Thanks for your reply. I'll still be learning until I die. Red Centre has these Bmpro's wired up pretty odd, if your off grid and have the inverter turned on and using power it will start charging the battery bank from the inverter/battery (a continuous loop of losing power), this youtube clip will explain better than I can ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-b3oa5-IkenE.html If your off grid turn the BM charge controller off at the power point and you shouldn't have this issue, it will still charge from solar though. Do check for a shunt as large outputs like the inverter are wired direct to the battery and the display screens wont pick it up without one, speaking from experience as our shunt was not working on our 2022 new van. You will have plenty of amps coming in to your battery now and I'll be waiting for that video to get ideas to get more power into my batteries.
PLASTIC PLANTS... I thought they were crap until Cam from Wild Touring chucked some in their new van... so I have them listed for our rebuild van... I would go larger and thicker though.
