I think Wally just sort of knew to take a back seat to the both of Allen and Benny (or he just wanted to watch like all of us) so for me, him barely saying much still meant a lot. He was allowing those two to spotlight it while letting the pictures tell the story
I remember it like it was yesterday! And I still cry. I loved Sr. Watched the race he passed in. This race here was such an emotional night. This was when Nascar was still great. Now they have stages and playoffs.
Junior had to fight off paint schemes of Velociraptors(Bobby Labonte), A winged horse(Jeremy Mayfield), A T-Rex(Tony Stewart) to get to the front in victory lane.
Marcus, Dale, S.T.S., and everyone involved HUGE 🎉👏. Bruton and Bob went to the grave discarding history and tradition. Marcus with the help of Dale and the folks in Wilkes County is embracing it. Thanks to the Governor for the funds. And I can't wait to be there in person for Nascar CUP cars to return to the NC mountains and the historic North Wilkesboro Speedway.
It is finally happening! I thought for sure this track was going to die and Dale Jr getting Iracing to scan it was the only way this track would survive for the next generation of racing drivers. Thank you everyone at Speedway Motorsports for listening to the fans and resurrecting this awesome track for future generations to enjoy!
OMG she is the most beautiful thing I've seen in a long time welcome back sweetheart we sure missed you and we never forgot about you you weren't gonna give up without a fight congratulation honey you deserve it. The only good thing about covid was the money to help fix her up thank you dale jr. Marcus Smith for getting her back you don't know how many of us missed her Benny would have been so happy
This is GREAT!! Wife and I went to Boone on Vacation and decided to find this legendary track and go check it out... it was a very sad ghost town. Could not believe it had been abandoned left to rot like Rockingham (Been there seen that one also sad) Did get to see Rockingham when it was still running and other than the terrible race dates it was great racing! Great times! But NOW to see NW getting a face-lift upgrades and coming back!!... We are already there!! Can't wait!! Going to be the best race of the year!!
The best reconstruction site I've ever seen my heart is warm with joy. I was given a tour of that track by the caretaker in 2004-5. Let's go racing boys!

I am still processing that NASCAR is back at North Wilkesboro. I can't wait! (Pssst NASCAR. I know of another track you left to rot in 2004 and again in 2013 you could return to next!)
I’d rather see smaller venues, packed, then these super-speedways with 65% empty seats. After Dale died, I hung on for 2-3 years, then lost interest in the way the sport was going. This is exciting to see 😍.
