Hey mate, Is the bike your son is riding a Commencal Ramones 16? I'm looking for a 14-inch bike for my kid (105cm height) and found your video from 2021 about the 16-inch. Wondering which one would be better. Thanks!
Hi yes he is riding the Ramones 16, we borrowed a Ramones 14 and it is not a good bike, cranks are way to short so pedaling is hard and they grow out of it within 3-6 months. If you want a 14 you are better of looking for a cheap BYK which is suitable to help the learn to pedal on the footpath and then go straight to the 16 Ramones, if you want I have a BYK 14 you can have for $20, my daughter learnt on that before the Ramones 16, but yeah I would go straight for the 16 Ramones from balance bike.
@@juicemooseman thanks for your advice! I really appreciate it. I called commencal about Ramones 16 and asked if they have the rear brake or coaster brake, quite disappointed that they only have coaster brakes for the 16 inch, but not 14 inch, which is a bit weird. Also they removed the rear brake mount for the 16 inch. I will try to find a second 14 inch bike then before jumping to 16. Thanks again!
Yeah see if you can find an older 16 inch, as the older ones have disc brakes and the even older ones have V brakes, they are not allowed to sell them anymore with a proper rear brake according to AU legislation. The 14 they can as it is considered a toy. I was fortunate to get the last of the disc brake version in the 16 a few years back.
No, a lot of what was in the original frame (bolts, covers, hanger, axel etc) had to go to the new frame so you are pretty much left with a carcass, so the broken frame well what’s left of it once you strip it down is hanging art.
Still doesn’t compare to Queenstown but I think we will see some new epic trails next year, we could see the markings of a new trail while we were there !
First 2 years they cover everything , next 5 years , they will still give you new frame but from what I understand you have cover shipping for new frame and transfer of parts yourself. 7 years total warranty.
Unfortunately there is no quick way to return, everyone that I know uses it as a loop, so we turn right at the bottom and go past scratchy arms exit and back up the fire road to pennant hills park for a scratchy arms or up the Wahroonga side for a Full Xtreme or Lyons Den
Great work Mr Moose. That first feature of Doubt It need to be hit at exact speed The Boogey Man step on step off had the ladder in place when I was there a few weeks ago.
Thx Mal MTB! yeah I find the features there pretty nice because everything works well at trail speed, nothing has to be done too fast! Yes we found the ladder after I had done it with gap lol! Nice that they put safety in for those who want to try it first without the gap
@@juicemooseman I didn't realise the ladder was replaceable, I thought they'd just dumbed down the trail. As you say - everything there is well built and made for sensible trail speed, I should have had more faith in the builders for that step on. By the way, I'm not sure Daryl got onto Lobster Pot real smooth, I thought he was gone for a second - but he did well.
Haha yeah the first time was a pretty big slam looked like he used all 180mm of the Giga getting up, had a big wobble but hung on!! By the forth time it was smoother.
Yes this track is very much ridable it’s probably the most popular track at Mt Narra. Unfortunately the only way to access it is to ride the up trail or use the push trail, personally I use a bit of both the push trail is short but steep so may be hard for a 7 year old. I’ve wanted to take my six year old but also think the climb will wipe her out lols so haven’t done it yet with her. Too many corners for an E-bike tow up, and the fire road access is blocked by a locked gate which is only accessible by Morgan road on the St Ives side. So the climb I believe is the only way up.
@@juicemooseman thanks man! Heading out for a ride this arvo and will contemplate if I feel like pushing 2 bikes up hill haha I haven’t been to Manly Dam yet so might check that out instead and go out solo without the kid to Mt Narra. Thanks for the info and your videos are great! I watch them with my kid :)
Hey ive seen your other vids in pennant hills at full x-treem and scratchy legs, any advice for routes around it I went today and was pretty confused on where to go. I did scratchy arms dh, old mans dh and full x-treeme but it took me ages do you have any good routes that link up lots of trails
Yeah there are no secret ways around them, you definitely have to do come big climbs and big km to follow the fire trails around from trail head to trail head. That’s the main down side to those trails.
I've seen plenty oh Ourimbah YTs, all with all the super sendy stuff and was always put off.. but seeing this one, yep.. I now wanna go!! and Badly wanna go. Thanks for this video - so good!
Thanks rotorman for the comment, yeah we definitely love ourimbah something there for everybody to progress on and we generally have lots of fun with the funny crew we have lols! Hope you make it there soon, it will not disappoint !
