Yeah if you want to see personalised orcs/uruks look at shadow of mordor or shadow of war they did a way better job then the show my favourite orc/uruk is the obsessed
god damn youtube alghoritm feeding me these ragetubers shitting just for the sake of shitting... this one at least did not go ROP SUCKS AND HERES WHY - THE WHY: IT JUST DOES. Anyway eagles being called machine is reference to Deus ex machina, as thats how Tolkien used them in hobbit.. And your description of orcs is similar to description of christian crusaders by people witnessing sack of jerusalem 1099, or how people describe sub saharan africans during colonialism.
Really glad this came into my recommended, great content keep it up, I'm personally loving the rings of power. I'm really happy we have live action middle earth again, yes there is flaws but I'm open to the changes being made.
Do they even have the creation of the palantir crystals which were taken to Middle Earth from Numenor? So in this 'Rings of Power' series does Sauron actually distribute the nine rings to those who would become the Nazgul and corrupt them, teaching them to sacrifice to Morgoth?
For some reason, quite a lot of franchises these days are really focusing on humanizing non-humans. While you absolutely can have a great story from that, sometimes it's better to focus on what makes them not human.
Call me crazy - but I liked it. I thought this was really early on in the Orcs mythology. I'm not sure if they just woke up orcs or if it was a change, and then a slower change as time progressed. Either way - I thought it was acted well and I enjoyed to see the faction have flaws. It also made them a bit more relatable to be humanized. I'm not sure I 'pity' them or feel they are misunderstood - they are very evil in this show, but there is a sense of morality in it that is twisted in a way that's fun to think about. I also think that thought Tolkien's books are amazing and the world he built was just phenomenal - he's also gone, and if it is to be continued I believe it's worth enjoying the creative aspects others bring to it. Much like the Wheel of Time series after Jordan's passing. The next author did a nice job of bringing a certain bit of his own care to it while being true to the source material. With all that said - I'm REALLY struggling with Rings of Power, though there are some good scenes as a whole it doesn't feel like it's shot in the world of the Lord of the Rings - it feels tangential and weird.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts on the show and I respect your opinion, however I just don’t agree that orcs need to be relatable because they’re not meant to be. Even though Tolkiens gone, other companies still need permission from Tolkien estate to use his works. That were able to work out some sort of agreement, but they never received the rights to the silmarillion or the LOTR trilogy. They are simply making up a story mingled with a bit of lore but theirs main goal isn’t to make a show based on lore, it’s to make a show that’ll make them tons of money.
Thats actually a pretty retarded take there bucko. Tolkien very explicitly explained the orks that fought were choosing evil. This takes out when sauron had a physical form because all of the wizards could dominate others minds. There were ork deserters in the later age.
@@marcush4741 Orcs are used in many media, just like Elves. Tolkien established or at least codified the staples, and they are being changed as iterations of the idea are being expressed. The subject of she short of a change in how Orcs are represented. The subject of my post is also about differences in the idea of what an Orc is compared to Tolkien's example., but in a positive way rather than in a way that is disrespectful to the original source material, as the Rings Of Power example is.
@@Thalanox 40k lore was an afterthought, only made to sell overpriced toys to edgy adult men... who take it so seriously that the idea of a 12 year old girl saying "these are my girl space marines" is always met with "THATS NOT CANON" instead of "cool, kid. You keep having fun".
@@Zinkx. If you want more context tolkien never really wrote about what the orcs home life was like. I do believe there were some letters where he brings up the possibility that they did have families that they cared for in their own fashion but that he didn't know much of such things. What was in rings of power really has nothing to do with tolkiens work and was just them trying to humanize the orcs in a rather ham handed fashion.
@rykerhoppe4789 In terms of the show, the character Adar seems plenty different than the orcs we are used to seeing/reading about and exerts his will over the others
I have to disagree with you about humanising the orcs..For one thing the fact that Tolkein at some point wrote that "orcs multiplied after the manner of the children of iluvatar" is already humanising the orcs....plus...if they breed just like men and elves that means they have babies, and babies cannot learnhow to walk, to speak, they cannot feed themsleves, they cannot learn the listens that will allow them to function as an adult without having been nurtured @Swappin.Thoughts
Considering there are no people with uteruses amongst orcs they must be all 2SLGBTQQIA++. Its empowering to see a orc rainbow family although I am fundamentally opposed to the concept of family since it furthers the patriarchy and adorno also said its evil. Sauron is actually the good guy liberating them from the homophobic, racist, western, white cis elbes and the patriarchy. Also the whole good vs evil plot just reflects the civilized vs uncivilized narrative of the british empire. Lotr is justifying imperialism and colonialism. Violence is just part of the orcs culture and we have to respect and celebrate that. You as a privileged white man especially need to center other voices and you should step back from conversations like this. I suggest you read marx and adorno. Its way more important than your stupid and racist white safespace stories anyways.
woke is just a buzzword the issue was not "wokeness" they just didn't respect the source material or understand it; black dwarves and women weren't the issue its that the orcs were misused/misrepresented and the female dwarves were beardless. it just wasn't a good adaptation
@@olstar18 wokeness is a nothing buzzword it has no meaning all "wokeness" is is whatever the person complaining doesn't like. rings of power isn't bad because of anything claimed to be "woke" it just isn't a good adaptation poc and women aren't to blame lousy writing and producers that don't care are
He was actually 234 when he died. He had the ring which gives unnatural long life, plus he’s one of the Dunedain who are blessed with long life just like Aragorn.
There’s nothing in Tolkiens lore that tells of her having a human form. However, Shelobs mother, Ungoliant, was among the Ainur and took the form of a spider in middle-earth. So that would mean Shelob descends from the Ainur.
I agree with the change. I just wish Chani should her discontent and aversion for the prophecy and the Bene Gesserit in more ways than just giving the camera the stink eye. After a few scenes, it just got annoying.
As a fellow pilgrim of the fussy infant->bug girl->weird cryptic teen-> autistic adult pipeline I relate to Helaena a lot. The complexities in her being very intelligent and highly observational while also being set as a social outcast who behaves inappropriately in social reciprocity, and considered less than because her flavor of intelligence is not suited to her expected role? It feels like something that’s not uncommon amongst those of us on the spectrum. However this is a fantasy show with many things going on behind each character. If it’s not stated explicitly I think we can’t say whether or not Helaena is autistic, but we can certainly say that she’s relatable to a lot of autistic viewers, and who is anyone to say you’re not allowed to see yourself in a character if you’re neurodivergent. Headcanoning for a character can be a very positive experience
I'm mostly weirded out by the characters they chose. We have had over a dozen vault hunters in the games. Why did we get 2 from the first movie, a dlc vault hunter from the second and then two npcs as the party? And then they went and casted it wrong, but I feel like even with a perfectly casted movie this would have still been really weird. What does kreig have over brick and mordecai? Why do Tina and Tannis hang out with the party like she's a vault hunter? Why couldn't they just give us a 4 person squad?
Nah, man. This movie sucked. The acting sucked. The way they all played their characters sucked. Clearly, none of them, including the script, played or know anything about borderlands. Only one character was good. The guy who played Marcus nailed it. Was disappointed that the intro wasn't "So, you want to hear a story, huh?" Also, Jessica Nigri should have played Moxxi. Jack black sucked as a clap trap. Kevin heart... well enough, said there. He should have stayed in Jumanji. The dame who played Lilith looked horrible. I can go on and on. The story of the movie was dumb as hell, too. One day, folks, we might actually have a good movie made based off a video game. But here's to hoping. 🍻
Actually there was something about the wizards not using their full maia power to fight lesser races or something like that, i think i saw that in some lore youtube channel. The Balrog of course being a fallen maia was the exception.
@@Swappin.Thoughtsyeah they are largely relegated to obscurity by Tolkien, but quite powerful nonetheless, and it would make sense that they were to play some part in the war of the ring, along with Gandalf the grey, Radaghast the Brown, and Saruman the white.
Yeah he's "not Gandalf" but the writers are just giving him a bunch of lines that are taken from the PJ films that are only stated by Gandalf. Specifically so people don't think he's Gandalf.
There was no chemistry, no chemistry, basically there was no chemistry. The chemistry in this movie seems like your opinion. Tired and discombobulating.
