Love Seabreeze. I thought this was a historic Whurlitzer when I was at the park, then I learned about the fire that happened in the 90s. Just shows how good of a job they did at recreating tge Whurlitzer and the caroucel that I just assumed they were from that era without question.
The current Seabreeze carousel was partially from that era. The mechanism is from PTC #31, built in 1914. The burned carousel was PTC(Or Philadelphia Toboggan Company, the manufacturer) #36. 11 Wurlitzer 165's remain today. In Illinois(1), Pennsylvania(3), Wisconsin(2), California(1), Connecticut(1), Rhode Island(1), New Jersey(1) and Maryland(1).
@@CBF1 I am aware of most of that. I was at Knobles 2 days before I went to Seabreeze actually so I had recent experience with 1 of the remaining Whurlitzer 165s fresh in my head when I was at Seabreeze. The Seabreeze one felt authentic, I didn't know until a few months later.
@@urbex_coasters Knoebels doesn't have a Wurlitzer 165. Their "wurlitzer 165" is a North Tonawanda organ modified by Wurlitzer in 1914 to play Wurlitzer 165 rolls. It was probably the first organ to have such a modification as the 165's were introduced in 1914. The North Tonawanda 165-Roll-Operated band organ was built in 1907 and when modified was given a Wurlitzer serial number 2344.
@@CBF1 Where are the ones in PA then? Idlewild is the only park of any signifigance I haven't been to in that state (I assumed Knobles had 1 since they have like 5 or 6 band organs).
Truly astounding. My dad wrote that tune on our upright piano in the Chicago suburbs just before my brothers and I inhabited the Banana Splits costumes. I was Bingo.
